The Rookie has had some incredible guest stars over the years and its latest certainly ranks among the most fun and unexpected cameos we’ve gotten across the show’s eight seasons!
Fans tuning into The Rookie season 8, episode 14, “Tiger Bear,” were absolutely floored when Peacemaker and Bridgerton star Freddie Stroma popped up out of the blue in what turned into a hilarious guest spot. Stroma guest-starred as Gus, the father of Beckett Hawley’s character Dash, who turned up for the first time this season after being called to the precinct to pick Dash up.
Early in the episode, Dash discovered the body of one of his teachers at school, which once led to an investigation with Dash heading down to the precinct to help with the case as a witness. With his mom tied up with work at the school dealing with the fallout of the murder, Nolan called Dash’s dad to pick him up.
Enter Stroma, who made his debut on The Rookie in the role of Gus, who is far from father of the year, with Gus being more concerned about plugging his latest business venture to officers in the precinct than about what happened with his son. After taking Dash home, things went from bad to worse as we learned that Gus had swindled the wrong group of men, who showed up at his doorstep and abducted the father and son duo in a ploy to get their money back by robbing the home of one of Dash’s classmates.
The storyline brought some fun moments and allowed Stroma to show off his signature comedic skills, while also bringing DC fans a mini-DC Universe crossover in the process. What made the role even more fun was that ABC managed to keep the cameo under wraps, making it a surprise cameo that quickly had fans talking on social media!
Many fans couldn't believe that The Rookie managed to pull off the cameo and loved getting to see Stroma pop up as Dash's dad in the episode.

While Stroma's character might not have been the most upstanding citizen or the best father, fans couldn't bring themselves to dislike the character thanks to Stroma's effortless charisma. Which, we totally get because it was certainly hard to be annoyed with Gus when he looks so good and was making us laugh with his quick remarks.

Freddie Stroma playing a hot, but nerdy deadbeat dad on The Rookie is really turning me on. I think I'm just obsessed with this man.

It's unclear whether we'll see more of Stroma this season on The Rookie, but the door was certainly left open for his character to return. While Dash made it clear that he's done with his dad following the ordeal he ended up in across the episode, Nolan's final conversation with Gus about stepping up seemed to hint we could see the character back again.
With Peacemaker's future up in the air, we'd certainly love to see Stroma back on The Rookie again for a guest spot!
