Tracker’s season 4 premiere doesn’t slow down for a second. Colter moves fast and with purpose the entire time. I didn’t expect anything less after seasons 1-3’s pace. Colter remains a man of action and someone who gets the job done. Although he may have to keep kids safe and punch a few criminals along the way, he seals the deal.
This episode is heavily focused on Colter’s new case, but we do get a glimpse at Reenie and her team. In a brief scene, Maxine tells Reenie she’s shocked about her old building was sold and her team looking for a new place to call their own. Maxine offers to help out, but Reenie wants a place that’s all theirs. They move on to joking about Maxine’s divorce and Reenie’s boring doctor that she’s not really into. Maxine takes that she’s on the market, and Reenie knows the name she mentions but turns it down. Mel pops into the office door, and Reenie realizes she’s late to a meeting with a client and runs out the door.
Besides that, with Reenie and the office’s unstable location, Colter is the one used to moving from place to place. He’s still living in his RV and enjoying whatever he may wake up that day. He’s right back into action with this new case. I will say it is milder than some of the past episodes, but the fast pace and heartwarming storyline packed a punch and pulled at my heartstrings.

Single dad doesn’t come home
Colter wakes up in his trailer and starts his day. In true Colter fashion, he toys with his gun and then the notebook from the book of his dad's stuff. He gets a call from Randy while on his run about the single dad case, hired by Charlie. Even though it's early, Randy knew Colter would be up, and he's close by in San Pedro, California.
Colter learns that Charlie lied about being the brother when he's really the elder son. He lied so he would come. He explains the situation and why he can't go to the police. Their mom died two years ago, leaving his dad alone with him and his brother, Hank. Colter takes it, and Charlie explains the night before about dinner and the mysterious text.
Last night’s events: The family dinner is on fire, and the smoke sets off the fire alarm. The dad is texting someone and needs to run out to take care of something. He tells the older brother to get pizza for him and his little brother, and he'll be back later. At 2:30 in the morning, the sons are still waiting for their dad to get home. The older brother sends their dad a text, and the blue turns to green, meaning service is bad where he is.
Colter agrees to poke around, hoping the dad could just be late getting home and not missing. He calls Randy and informs him that Charlie is 15 and the son. Checking into the text, Burn Maddox was the guy he was texting, and he had a record. Randy locates his vehicle, and Colter heads that way.
Where is Charlie and Hank’s dad?
Colter enters the shop and asks for Burn Maddox, and Darren says he's off today. As soon as Colter heads out, that guy slowly walks into the back to talk to Burn, who is working on a car. Colter comes around the back and lets them know he isn't a cop and that he's looking for Shawn. Burn is reluctant to tell Colter because he's on parole. Shawn went to see Burn last night. Burn sold him a gun, saying Shawn needed to protect his girl.
Burn made a call and hooked him up. The girl was waiting in the car, but Burn didn't get her name. Before Colter leaves, he notices a bike and calls out Charlie for following him. He promised him he will try to bring him back safe, but he has to trust him. He overheard his conversation, googled the car shop, and followed him. Now, he gives him a ride to school.
Charlie confirms his dad tries to keep the girl a secret: Stephanie Rodriguez. He takes him to school so he can do his job and keep the brothers safe. Before leaving, Colter calls Randy about the gun to protect Stephanie. He sends him a pin to his next lead: residential area. Colter finds Shawn's car, his phone, and Hank's notebook are inside. The house's window is cracked. He picks the front door lock and finds a mess. Looks like there was a struggle throughout the house, blood on the floor leading to a man's body (not sure if it is Shawn).

Colter locates the missing dad
He calls in the law enforcement and lets the lead cop know why he's at the house. Brent Russo is the dead man, Stephanie's ex. The lead cop guesses that the new boyfriend killed the ex, but Colter disagrees and says that a fourth party may be involved since Shawn has no criminal history. A fourth person was probably waiting for them, hit, and dragged. Stephanie was probably carried. It looked like Stephanie and Shawn did it because Shawn's car is still out front.
Reenie calls Colter and lets him know she is up to speed and needs to get moving. He tasks her with looking into Brent Russo’s background and if anything comes up under his name. Later on, Reenie finds out Brent Russo has a federal file open. She meets with an FBI agent to get the details to save a single father.
Colter ends the call and follows a trail of blood outside where a camera is angled to the back. He follows it into a gas station, hoping to get their security footage. He buys something and questions the cashier, but she wants money in return. She sets him up with the footage. He catches the kidnapping of Shawn and Stephanie by four men and snaps a picture of the van’s license plate. Sends it to Randy, but it is blurry, and he gets a partial plate number. He sends him the address where the van came from.
We get a glimpse of Shawn and Stephanie. He is badly beaten, and she apologizes to him for this happening. Then, she begs to be freed, but the kidnappers want something first. They punch Shawn when they don't listen.
Colter sneaks onto the shipyard on the back/underside of an 18-wheeler. He enters the warehouse and finds a broken zip tie and gets suspicious. He hides from the employee coming in, but the guy suspects him, and Colter takes him out with a couple of punches. Colter takes the guy's gun and key, then locates Shawn. He's half an hour late to save Stephanie because the guys took her somewhere.

Reenie uncovers a massive operation
Colter takes out the guy that was left behind and pulls Shawn out of there. He can still walk, but he's in a lot of pain. Stephanie’s ex wanted her to delete the records so the ex, Brent, could get away with it. Everything went sideways and killed Brent, who had ties to Russian people. They're moving people in shipping containers. After Reenie tells them that update about the people moving, he tells Colter she will call local people and her source.
Colter and Shawn go to find Stephanie, who is getting into the control room without any trouble. The control room guy seems suspicious and wants to call to check on clearance. The guy with her stops her. Security immediately checks on Shawn, who explains the situation. They get in and find the control guy on the floor but alive and talking. Stephanie and the guy are heading to yard 4.
Colter grabs an extra weapon and sneaks up on the guys holding Stephanie in yard 4. They hear Colter drop something and come search the maze of containers for him. Colter takes down one and hunts for the others, easily taking the second one down. Then he takes on gunfire as the lead man holds a gun to Stephanie’s head. Stephanie kicks the man, and Colter takes a neck shot. She's okay as he heads to get the others out of the recent shipping container on the truck that was to leave next. There are over a dozen people of all ages in the container.
The lead cop comes over and requests a blow-by-blow on what happened after they cleaned this crime scene up. He thanked Colter and earned a favor from him.
Colter returns Shawn home to his sons. Stephanie is with them, both of them alive and okay. Finally, they officially meet each other. Hank goes off to show Stephanie his room as Shawn thanks Charlie and Colter. Charlie thanks Colter, who commends him on his good instincts. He's a lot like a young Colter. Instead of rewarding him with money, he tells him to stay in school and, when he gets older, to look him up and settle up then. He leaves, hoping to see him down the line.
Randy calls him with the next case as he leaves Shawn’s house. The CBS preview for the next week lets us know that Colter will be experiencing another hiker case next week in episode 2. Reenie is right; nothing is ever boring on Tracker.
