It is time for the broadcast networks to air their holiday programming. Regular TV has taken a break for the rest of the year. Here’s a look at what you can watch on TV tonight, Sunday, Dec. 22.
This is the time of year when people spend time with families or they go out to Christmas parties. It means fewer people are watching TV live, and the networks don’t want to risk the linear ratings for their regular shows. CBS was the last of the networks to take a break last week, and now we’re into the full holiday programming.
There’s plenty to watch still. You don’t need to turn to streaming just yet.
The Santa Clause, The Kennedy Center Honors, and more
Let’s start with something that is for the whole family. ABC has opted for movie night each Sunday, and tonight is no different. Rather than an animated classic, though, ABC is bringing The Santa Clause to screens. This is the first Tim Allen movie in the franchise, which sees him end up becoming Santa because he knocks the previous Santa off the roof. It’s a great tale of how the Santa magic stays alive.
If you want another Christmas movie, but one that’s for the adults in the house, then you’ll want to turn to The CW. Tyler Perry’s A Madea Christmas will air on the network, starting at 7 p.m. ET/PT. Madea heads to a small rural town to visit a friend’s daughter, and of course, there’s a huge impact on the whole family when she turns up!
The Kennedy Center Honors is an important moment for the John F. Kennedy Center to artists of today with its awards. Queen Latifah hosts the event, with star-studded performances happening throughout the night.
Of course, sports fans can turn to NBC for Sunday Night Football. While we’ll be coming to an end of the regular season soon, there are still a couple of games to watch. Tonight, it’s alla bout the Buccs facing off the Cowboys in Dallas.
