The Super Bowl is over, and that means the end of football season. It’s time to return to the usual Sunday broadcast schedule this week, Sunday, Feb. 16.

It’s not quite as normal as it could be. NBC won’t have its Sunday shows for another week, but that’s due to something else big happening. This year marks 50 years of Saturday Night Live, and that is a major milestone for any type of series. Naturally, NBC wants to celebrate that, and we can’t begrudge that.

Saturday Night Live, Watson, and more

Throughout the primetime slot, NBC will air a 50th anniversary special for Saturday Night Live. Numerous comedians who got their start on the series will appear during the event, including Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, and Dave Chapelle. There will also be a string of musical guests. After all, musical guests are a huge part of the regular recording.

If you prefer to watch scripted drama, there’s some great news for CBS fans. The night of Sunday dramas returns, and we get to see the second episode of Watson. The series premiere of the show aired after the AFC Championship Game, and we’d had to wait for the next episode. This one is set to pick up off the back of Watson learning that his ex-wife is dating a woman. Naturally, Watson wants to know as much about this mystery woman as possible.

FOX also has a night of animated comedy returning to our screens. It all starts with the new season of Family Guy. Yes, The Simpsons is taking a bit of a break, but it won’t be too long until it comes back. The Family Guy season 23 premiere will see Lois and Peter’s love story retold once more. This time, it’s in the form of a Top Gun parody.

While ABC had a night of movies throughout the fall and early winter, things are changing now. We have a night of Shifting Gears reruns to get you caught up on the series.
