Fridays have become a little quiet as January starts off. Things will change soon, but for now, let’s take a look at what’s on TV tonight, Friday, Jan. 17.

CBS continues to keep its shows on a break, and this is what makes the night on the quieter side. After all, it’s the network that we can usually rely on for Friday night dramas. Otherwise, this night is considered the “death night” for a lot of TV shows. The good news is the tides are turning for some shows.

Happy’s Place, Shark Tank, and more tonight

A new episode of Shark Tank kicks off ABC’s lineup tonight, Friday, Jan. 17. One of the products being pitched tonight is a self-tanner for men. I’m intrigued by how this self-tanner needs to be specifically for men. There’s also a “new-and-improved flashlight.” Honestly, unless it can hold itself so I have two hands free (and I can use headlamps for that), I can’t see how it could be new and improved.

Over on NBC, we have a night of comedy to start things off. Happy’s Place and Lopez vs. Lopez air new episodes, and for Happy’s Place, we’ll see Bobbie worried. Emmett is late to work, which doesn’t seem to be like him. Meanwhile, there will be some light humor around OCD. OCD can affect people in different ways, but for some, a small change can feel life changing. Gabby and Takoda want to prove to Steve that changing something like a barstool isn’t going to end the world.

FOX has the college basketball game of the night. We’ll get two hours of coverage of the games.

Yes, CBS has the usual suspects for Fridays, but it’s all reruns. SWAT season 8, episode 3 will air in the last slot of the night. This episode saw the team dealing with a deadly situation in a prison when a bomb goes off and Hondo and the team are stuck inside with some of the most dangerous prisoners who have nothing to lose.
