The winter break is now officially in full swing. The broadcast shows are on their breaks, and some for a few months. The good news is that some shows will be back early in the new year.
There’s a great mixture of returning and new dramas and comedies in January 2025. Happy’s Place and Lopez vs. Lopez kicks things off in early January on NBC, and then the end of the month will see the return of most of the CBS dramas.
ABC is a bit of a mixed bag. While some dramas will either start or return in January 2025, we’ll have to wait until March for the return of TGIT. However, there are some reality shows and game shows to look forward to while we wait. Now you just need to decide what you want to watch.
ABC winter TV schedule
As mentioned, ABC has a varied schedule for shows. There are a lot returning or airing new in January. The Rookie and Will Trent will start their new seasons, with High Potential sandwiched between them. We’ll also get the new comedy series Switching Gears, which stars Tim Allen and Kat Dennings. Allen plays a widow who agrees to take in his estranged daughter and her kids when she falls on hard times. Of course, it brings plenty of comedy and drama.
For those who are more interested in reality TV, The Bachelor returns in January. Grant Ellis will lead this season’s competition, as he looks to meet his bride.
The Conners is currently missing off the schedule. The shortened final season is set to premiere sometime in March, according to TV Guide.

CBS winter TV schedule
What about CBS? Well, the network has a mixture of returning and new shows arriving in January 2025. Most of the shows will be back at the end of January, but there are a couple being pushed into February due to the Sunday night schedule.
The Neighborhood and Poppa’s House will kick most of the schedule off with their returns on Monday, Jan. 27. The entire Monday night lineup is back as normal on the same date.
However, it is worth noting the premiere of a new series on Sunday, Jan. 26, straight after the AFC Championship Game. Watson gets that coveted timeslot, which brings us a mixture of medical and detective drama. Dr. John Watson is back in the medical field a year after the death of Sherlock Holmes. When Moriarty returns, John realizes that trouble is on its ways. The series will then take a break until after the Super Bowl, getting the middle slot on a Sunday between Tracker and The Equalizer.
Wednesdays will be a night of game shows until February, with The Price is Right at Night kicking things off. This night starts at the beginning of January for those looking for something instead of the One Chicago lineup on NBC. Keep an eye on Friday’s change, as well. With Blue Bloods at an end, SWAT is moving into the later timeslot.

NBC winter TV schedule
We just mentioned the One Chicago lineup, so let’s start with that. A lot of NBC’s schedule will remain as it is now, with Wednesdays being all about the three dramas. There’s a three-way crossover event coming at the end of January, which is set to be more like a three-hour movie.
If you’re in the mood for comedy, you’ll want to tune in from Friday, Jan. 3. Yes, that’s when Happy’s Place and Lopez vs. Lopez will return along with more Dateline. Night Court and St. Denis Medical will then return the week after on Tuesday nights. That’s not until the middle of the month, though. There’s the new game show Deal or No Deal Island premiering on Tuesday, Jan. 7 along with The Irrational midseason premiere.
Brilliant Minds will return on Monday, Jan. 6. Keep in mind that there are only two episodes of the season left. This show hasn’t been given an extended order, which doesn’t bode well for its future. After the show ends, Mondays will be given to the new crime procedural The Hunting Party starring Manifest’s Melissa Roxburgh.
There is a push of new shows in February 2025. Suits LA and Grosse Pointe Garden Society will premiere on Sunday, Feb. 23. Suits LA is a spin-off of the original USA Network series, and we know that Harvey Spectre is back. Grosse Pointe Garden Society will star Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Melissa Fumero, and this series certainly has a Desperate Housewives feel to it.

FOX winter TV schedule
FOX has a huge event coming in February. It airs the Super Bowl, and Rescue: Hi-Surf was supposed to bet the timeslot after that. FOX has decided to make a change, with The Floor now getting that timeslot, and we’re a little confused about what that means for the rescue drama.
The start of January will see a new series that medical drama fans are sure to want to check out. Doc follows a doctor who suffers a brain injury that causes her to forget everything about who she is. This should allow for a new start, but everyone at the hospital knows who she is, and they know the type of woman she is—and she isn’t very nice. Are some personalities nurtured rather than just part of nature?
FOX has you covered if you’re looking for a new comedy series. Denis Leary will star as a disgraced Army colonel in Going Dutch. After being disgraced, he’s demoted to a station in the Netherlands, where he will need to learn all about the culture as well as figure a way to climb back up the ranks. It will follow new episodes of Animal Control, which was a huge hit last year.
911: Lone Star will return in January, but not for long. There are just three episodes of the entire series. Will this show end on a high note, or will it leave us needing more?

The CW winter TV schedule
Out of all the networks, The CW is currently the least predictable. It used to be the one we could count on, and now there are very few scripted shows. The good news is that All American will make a return in January. Season 7 will get a bit of a soft reboot as there’s a whole new cast joining the series now that the majority of the series regulars have left.
The CW does seem to be getting back into the dramedy market with one of the new shows. Good Cop/Bad Cop will star Leighton Meester and Clancy Brown. The series focuses on two siblings who are both detectives and have to find a way to work together when they don’t see eye to eye on situations. It doesn’t help that their father is the police chief as well!
Wild Cards will also return, bringing us more cases for Ellis and Max to tackle. They will need to navigate their growing and complicated relationship, which they fell into throughout the first season.
