The original X-Files run successfully brought David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson into the spotlight, but it did have a lot of notable guest stars.

Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds, who starred in movies like The Proposal and Free Guy, made an appearance in Season 3, Episode 13, titled "Syzygy." The episode focused on a small town and a series of murders connected to a planetary alignment; Reynolds played one of the high school students featured in the cold open.

Other notable actors to guest star in the original X-Files series include Bryan Cranston, who apppeared in season 6, episode 2, titled "Drive"; he's best known for lead roles in the hit series Breaking Bad and Malcolm in the Middle, in addition to appearances in movies like director Gareth Edwards' Godzilla remake as well as the upcoming film The Sheep Detectives.

With Ryan Coogler's remake taking more of a concrete form, we now know that his take is going to have the same approach in bringing in big names for guest spots.

Deadline has confirmed the casting of several guest stars for the Hulu-greenlit reimagining of the classic sci-fi/paranormal/police procedural series.

The most notable name in Monday's wave of casting is that of Steve Buscemi. Having starred in movies like Hubie Halloween as well as the Hotel Transylvania series and hot off a run in Wednesday season 2, Buscemi is all but certain to join the likes of Reynolds and Cranston as some of the show's most iconic guest stars.

Buscemi will be joined by actress Amy Madigan, who is coming off of a Best Supporting Actress Oscar win for her performance in the movie Weapons. Madigan has also served as a guest star in several high-profile shows like Law & Order and Grey's Anatomy.

The third guest star confirmed on Monday for Coogler's reimagining is Ben Foster. He's known for starring in movies like The Finest Hours and The Messenger, the latter of which also featured Buscemi.

Besides the three big-name stars, the reboot will also feature Devery Jacobs, Lochlyn Munro, Tantoo Cardinal, Joel D. Montgrand, and Sofia Grace Clifton. It remains to be seen whether all of the actors and actresses confirmed to star in the reboot will feature in the pilot or across the series.

The pilot for Coogler's take on The X-Files is currently filming in Vancouver; production in the Canadian city is set to last for the month of May.

The X-Files, in addition to the two feature films released separately from the original run, is available to stream on Disney+.
