Ahsoka Tano first appeared in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which is an animated film. From there, the animated show picked up about two months later and we continued to see Ahsoka there. Keeping track of time timeline can get a little confusing with multiple things involving the Clone Wars, but luckily there’s one available thanks to my friends over at Bantha Fodder.

Clone Wars is where Ahsoka makes the majority of her appearances and while I didn’t watch the show when it initially released, I had the pleasure of binge watching it on Netflix last year. I’ll admit, it took me a while to get into Star Wars, but once I did, I wanted to keep digging. Ahsoka Tano is a beloved character and she quickly became a personal favorite in the show. With that said, I did things a little backwards and started watching Rebelsbefore this. So I didn’t get the background on Ahsoka until after she appeared in the show. However, it didn’t change how much I enjoyed her character.

Ahsoka plays very different roles in Clone Wars and Rebels simply because of how much time passed. In the former, she’s the padawan of Anakin Skywalker. And in the latter, she’s a completely different person because she stepped away from things and later joined up with the rebellion. She’s much more mature and (spoiler alert in case you haven’t watched Rebels) the last we see of her is when she goes up against Darth Vader aka her former master. It’s a great moment for anyone who is a fan of Clone Wars and understands the relationship that the two previously had.

Going back a little more, though, Ahsoka is a Togruta from Shili. She was found by Jedi Master Pro Koon there. Then, she was sent to train to become a Jedi, which is where she was assigned to Anakin. Their relationship started off rocky, but continued to grow as Clone Wars continued. George Lucas created her character, but Dave Filoni’s work on the movie and both shows pushed the character along. Even Filoni is a huge fan of the character and was teasing whether or not she lives.

Ahsoka may not have had a huge role in Rebels like the main cast do, but she’s an important piece of the rebellion. Hopefully she’ll somehow be back for the show’s fourth and final season. She’s a dynamic character who was able to grow into an important part of the Star Wars timeline. And for anyone who would like some more of Ahsoka in the meantime, she has her own solo book that is part of the canon timeline.

May the 4th be with you!
