For over 25 years, fans of ‘The Simpsons’ have been obsessively watching and quoting lines in their daily lives. But here are 30 things that die-hard fans may not know about the show.

Beginning as animated shorts on The Tracey Ullman Show and transitioning into a half-hour sitcom in 1989, The Simpsons has aired over 500 episodes, released a successful feature film, and won multiple Emmy Awards. The show is known for its unique animation, hilarious sense of humor, and its ever-growing list of characters and guest celebrities.

Created by Matt Groening and developed for television by James L. Brooks and Sam Simon, The Simpsons started out on the young and fledging Fox network. Since its premiere, the show remains one of the most popular sitcoms of all time and a staple on Fox’s Sunday night programming line-up.

The Simpson family is of course comprised by the dim-witted but good-natured patriarch Homer (Dan Castellaneta), loving and caring Marge (Julie Kavner), menacing bad boy Bart (Nancy Cartwright), the highly intelligent middle child Lisa (Yeardley Smith), and precocious baby Maggie. Set in the fictional town of Springfield, the show has developed legions of fans over the years.
