Lance Sweets – Bones

Last Words: “The world is a lot better than you think it is. It’s…”

How He Died: He was shot in a parking garage.

Why His Last Words Were So Great: Over the course of his seven seasons, Lance became one of the most beloved characters on Bones. He was dorky, funny and, despite the trauma he faced, had a positive outlook on life. Lance constantly tried to get people to open up and only wanted the best for those around him.

His death was tough to handle, but even as he lay dying on the floor of a parking garage, he left Brennan and Booth with one last message, “The world is a lot better than you think it is.”

Brennan and Booth spend their workdays mulling over dead bodies and searching for killers. It would be easy for them to get jaded and see the world as a horrible place. They have had their own traumas to deal with and have sunken to dark places before. Lance Sweets didn’t want them or anyone else to live there.

Even as Booth was being chased by a conspiracy, and Lance paid his life for it, Lance still viewed the world in a very different way. He had a baby on the way, friends who loved him, and he still managed to see good in the world as he died.
