Lydia Rodarte-Quayle – Breaking Bad

Last Words: “Oh my God.”

How She Died: Walter poisons Lydia with ricin.

Why Her Last Words Were So Great: It’s arguable that Gus should be on our list here, but where Gus’ death was fun it was also a little over the top, unrealistic, and just a good excuse to use some good old fashioned TV magic. Plus there’s not much that could top Gus wordlessly fixing his tie. This is why Lydia makes our list instead.

Whereas the other deaths from Breaking Bad on this list were heartbreaking, there was something undeniably satisfying about Lydia’s takedown. Especially from a narrative standpoint! That pesky ricin was a threat to everyone who got in Walt (and by extension Jessie’s) way! And then you forgot about it all the whole also hoping something would end up in Lydia’s tea during her meticulous and irritating routine.

What makes her words so memorable is not so much the actual line. As far as last words go, it’s pretty generic. But when we consider that Walt’s own last words were “Goodbye, Lydia,” it was the perfect ending.
