‘Frequency’ managed to deliver a season finale that wrapped up some loose ends but left us desperate for more! As Frank and Raimy think their Nightingale nightmare is over they find one more surprise waiting for them.

As expected Frequency delivered an excellent conclusion to it’s first season. The show raised the stakes all season long, and it continued into the finale. Frank (Riley Smith) and Raimy (Peyton List) think they’ve finally won against the Nightingale. But as they celebrate that Julie is finally alive again in the present, the past is still throwing them curveballs. Below is my recap for Episode 13, “Signal Loss.”

2016

More from Hidden Remote

Raimy wakes up for the first time since the pilot with everything back in its rightful place. She’s engaged to Daniel, Julie is alive and a doctor to boot! Everything is wonderful! Slowly though more changes become evident. Gordo is now a lawyer but thankfully he’s still the same Gordo we know and love. He’s just in a suit now. Everyone is preparing for Raimy and Daniel’s upcoming engagement party.

Over the radio Raimy tells her father that Julie is back. Both are thrilled that they’ve finally succeeded in saving Julie. Frank tells Raimy that he’s planning on taking the family to a cabin for a couple of days. It’s the first time either of them have relaxed since they changed Frank’s fate.

1996

As Frank plans his family getaway, Robbie visits Joe in jail. Joe tells him he’s taken the fall for all of the Nightingale kills and he wants Robbie to give him all of the details so he can give a fully detailed confession. Frank and Satch are pretty happy when they get word that Joe has given a full confession to the D.A.

2016

Raimy goes to the station and goes over the Nightingale files. While at the station she finds yet another improvement to the timeline. Satch spent twenty years consumed with the Nightingale case, so in this new timeline he never split with his wife.

Robbie in the present comes home to find that his son got in a fight at school. It turns out kids don’t like you if you’re grandfather is a convicted serial killer. Robbie is upset that his son fought back against his bullies, he tells him that they don’t resort to violence. Which is a laughable statement coming from that man. There hasn’t been a Nightingale kill in twenty years, but it seems like Robbie is struggling.

Raimy goes to visit Julie at the hospital and sees the same red truck that had been seen a few episodes back. The appearance of the truck troubles her. If they’ve truly fixed everything why is the truck in the fixed timeline?

1996

Frank takes Julie and little Raimy up to a friends cabin for a little time away. Things seem to be going really well for the family. Later that night Frank gets a cryptic call from Miracella. She tells Frank that everything is good between them. She tells him that she just wanted him to know that before the world got crazy. That’s all that Frank gets before she hangs up on him. Julie joins him outside and tells him that she can’t believe that they’ve fixed their relationship. It’s something that neither of them would have thought possible even a few weeks ago.

2016

The truck bothers Raimy to the point that she goes to Satch to see if the woman the truck is registered to has any connection to the Nightingale. Satch says there isn’t a connection and asks why she thinks there is. She avoids explaining because she knows it will make her sound crazy. Instead, she goes to the address listed on the registration and finds none other than Robbie.

Raimy is clearly shaken upon discovering a connection to Robbie in the new timeline. She gives him a lie about why she’s looking into his truck. Turns out that the truck is registered to his mother in law. Robbie was at the hospital earlier with Megan. By the end of the visit, Raimy isn’t the only one feeling uneasy.

1996

Julie surprises Frank by inviting Satch and his family to their mini vacation. Satch apologizes to Frank for not having his back when it came to Moreno. Frank tells him it’s OK and they finally bury the hatchet. All seems to finally be going well for Frank.

Once he returns to town, Raimy tells him about what she found in 2016. Robbie popping back up is something she can’t shake and she begs Frank to go and talk to Megan and Robbie once more. She’s worried that since they didn’t kill Joe that the branches are starting to grow back.

2016

Daniel tells Raimy that he wants to talk to her about the man she’s been talking to on the radio. Raimy tells him that she needs him to trust her but she never can tell him. Surprisingly he seems to agree to this.

When a coworker of Julie’s is called away on a family emergency Julie covers some of their patients. Megan just so happens to be one of those patients and Robbie is there with his sister. Coincidence? There’s no such thing on this show.

1996

Frank goes to speak with Megan and Robbie once more. He tells them that the trial is going to be hard for them but he needs to know if there’s anything they haven’t told him. They both tell him that they are ready for the trial.

Frank ends up out at a bar with Satch and other officers. Frank stays behind at the bar when Satch and the others leave. He regrets that decision almost immediately when Moreno stops by for a talk. Moreno tries to explain his actions to Frank, but it isn’t something that Frank wants to hear. Moreno gives Frank the envelope that we saw last week and tells him that he knows that Frank kidnapped Joe. Moreno tells him understands why he did it and they aren’t that different. Before Moreno leaves he tells Frank that they live three blocks apart but they were never friends.

Over the radio, Frank tells her that he talked to Robbie and Megan and that things are fine. Frank thinks that she should enjoy the things that she has back. He thinks they should maybe consider not talking over the radio anymore. It’s clearly not something either of them really wants, but Frank is worried that they’ll mess things up. Raimy tells him that he’s still not in the future, he dies in a car accident in fifteen years. She thinks they can still save him but he tells her that she’s already saved him.

Robbie visits Joe in prison and tells him that Julie is Megan’s doctor and it’s a sign he needs to start killing again. Joe tries to talk him about of it, telling him he’s stopped for twenty years. Robbie tells him that Megan is dying and he can’t stop himself from killing without her.

1996

After Frank leaves, Robbie tells Megan that Joe isn’t a monster, and neither is he. Slowly Megan realizes that Robbie isn’t who she thought he was. He tells her that he’s the one that killed all of those women and they deserved it because they were sinners.

Julie tells Raimy about her day at work. It was a tough one, she had to tell a woman she was dying. That woman was Megan and Raimy doesn’t like yet another connection to the Nightingale case. Midway through the conversation Julie suddenly doesn’t know who or what Raimy is talking about.

1996

Megan tries to escape from her brother but she isn’t able to. He grabs her and slams her head into the wall repeatedly, killing her.

Raimy realizes that’s not true because things are altering in the past. She races back to her house to try to warn Frank via the radio even though her engagement party is going on there.

Thoughts on the Episode

  • Oh I have so many thoughts on the episode. First up these writers and actors deserve a lot of praise for crafting such an intense and satisfying season finale.
  • The final conversation between Raimy and Frank over the radio was one of the best scenes I’ve seen on television this year. I’m constantly in amazement at how well Riley Smith and Peyton List act in these scenes.
  • I can’t believe I’m going to say this but: I honestly hope that somehow Moreno survives being shot.
  • This might be an unpopular opinion but I’m still Team Kyle Mosby.
  • I think we all agree that season one has been amazing so we have to do what we can to get a season two. Season one will be on Netflix on February 2, rewatch again and get as many people as you can to watch it! Let’s show The CW how much we want a season two!

What did you think of the finale? Love it? Hate it? Let me know in the comments!!
