15 Television Stars Who Left Their Hit Show

The Role: Gage Golightly played Erica Reyes on Teen Wolf, the ultimate badass lady on the show and was one of the first female werewolves introduced. During Season 3, she was somewhat of a villain but eventually was assumed to turn good. She worked well off other characters like Scott (Tyler Posey), Stiles (Dylan O’Brien), and especially Derek (Tyler Hoechlin).
The Departure: There wasn’t ever really a reason why Golightly left the show. It was speculated she had gotten a lead role on another show but nothing ever happened there. As fans of Teen Wolf know, the show has no problem killing off beloved characters for no reason. The show didn’t really address her death besides showing her dead body and flashbacks of her fighting for her life.

The Aftermath: In her absence, the show kept on going and wrapped up Season 4 with only a small cameo for her death scene. She seemed to be replaced by Malia (Shelley Hennig) who was another female werewolf. Some have speculated that Malia’s plotline could have been intended for Erica but that’s all speculation.
Since the show ended, Golightly hasn’t been in the spotlight much. However, she starred in the Amazon show Red Oaks and filmed three movies. The movies haven’t been commercial hits but Golightly seems to be getting steady work. Hopefully in the final season, Teen Wolf pays tribute to her, though!
