#10 Denny and Izzie – Grey’s Anatomy

Season 2 of Grey’s Anatomy is known as the season of Denny and Izzie, a relationship that stamped our hearts forever.

Denny Duquette was a heart patient who checked into Seattle Grace Hospital halfway through the season,. Not only won our hearts with his charming personality and smile that lit up his eyes, but he also captured the heart of Dr. Izzie Stevens. What started out as flirty banter back and forth eventually turned into something much more between a doctor and her patient. Though the relationship was frowned upon by many around them, that didn’t stop them from falling in love or stop Izzie from cutting his L-VAD wire to ensure he received the heart he needed to live.

In the season 2 finale, after finally receiving the transplant, Izzie accepted Denny’s marriage proposal and left the hospital only to come back to find he had tragically died of a stroke. The scene is set to Snow Partol’s “Chasing Cars” and the image of Izzie laying with him, in her pink dress, while telling her friends about their future plans is truly heartbreaking. What’s even more heartbreaking and turns your tears into rivers, is when Alex picks her up and cradles her in his arms as she cries. I still haven’t recovered.
