According to reports, Valastro passed away Thursday morning from the disease which led to her retirement from working in the family’s bakery and appearing on the show back in 2012.

"“It’s with an extremely heavy heart that I must share the news of my mother’s passing. She left for heaven this morning, surrounded by the family,” Cake Boss star Buddy Valastro revealed in a statement via Facebook. “This is a difficult time for all of us and I do ask for your patience and respect while we let this sink in. Her battle with ALS has ended, she is no longer suffering and I hope she’s dancing to “I Will Survive” with my dad right now.”"

From the moment Cake Boss first premiered, fans were instantly drawn to Mary’s warmth and light-hearted personality. She would appear regularly throughout the early seasons of Cake Boss, which followed her son Buddy Valastro and their family as they navigated the crazy world of cake-making.
