The Night Shift is back this Thursday night on NBC after a week off, and episode 7, Keep the Faith, is a special one!

"“Keep the Faith” synopsis: San Antonio Memorial has a busy night full of veteran patients in need — When protestors descend on a funeral for a dear member of the night shift family, multiple veterans are injured and brought to San Antonio Memorial for treatment. A high-profile politicians from Drew’s (Brendan Fehr) past triggers flashbacks to his time in Iraq. Jordan (Jill Flint), Scott (Scott Wolf), and TC (Eoin Macken) disagree on how to best provide care for the politician. Paul (Robert Bailey Jr.) and Shannon (Tanaya Beatty) must improvise while tending to Doug (guest star Dan Lauria, Royal Pains), a former POW. Cain (guest star Mark Consuelos) and Drew treat a fearless photographer."

The Night Shift‘s “Keep the Faith” opens with Mac’s funeral where, unfortunately, a mob of homophobic, anti-military protestors is waiting outside. The night shift crew try to keep it together, but you gotta love Drew’s quick temper and need to defend others. However, his outburst opens a can of worms and it’s a race to San Antonio Memorial!

“Keep the Faith” heavily focuses on veteran’s by featuring real veterans in front of the camera. Real veterans also worked with production behind the cameras. The episode was written by Brian Anthony (an Army veteran) and directed by Timothy Busfield (a Navy veteran).

Spoiler bits:

  • Viewers will visit Drew’s past in a series of flashbacks.
  • While Annie’s suicide isn’t fully addressed in “Keep the Faith,” we can expect an explanation soon, because TC will bring her up Thursday.
  •  TC and Jordan will also quickly mention Topher.
