Here’s how Jack Pearson died on This Is Us

This Is Us finally revealed how Jack Pearson died, and now that we know we have to try and move on with our grief.
After a season of falling in love with the Pearson family, This Is Us fans finally found out how Jack died. It’s been a mystery to us for 18-episodes and everyone has a theory about how it happens. Was it a drunk driving accident, or perhaps a plane crash.
Both of those situations made sense for a variety of reasons.
Jack’s drinking problem, that Rebecca claimed wasn’t actually a problem, flared up late in the season when his marriage got rocky. There’s also that whole thing about Kate not liking planes or flying, which fans have theorized means that Jack was in a plane crash and she can’t handle it.
It was also possible that Jack met his end in a different way unrelated to hints that have been dropped before. There was always the chance it was just an accident, which would make it even more tragic than we were already imagining.
Beware, there are spoilers ahead for the Season 2 premiere of This Is Us — and the show in general. If you don’t want to know how Jack dies then stop here and come back after you’re caught up and have already seen the season premiere.
Alright, here we go.
It took the whole episode to figure out, but we learned that Jack died in a fire. Well, it wasn’t totally confirmed since we didn’t see his death scene but the final sequence of the episode was Rebecca pulling up to the Pearson’s house, which has been burned down in what appeared to be a raging inferno.
How this happened is still a mystery. Jack had just revealed to Rebecca that he was indeed an alcoholic and needed to get help. Was it a drunken accident or a tragedy after he had gotten clean?

We’ll have to keep watching to find out but the we found out how Jack died, and now we have the rest of the week to try and recover.
