5 Ways the CW’s Riverdale is trying to be Veronica Mars

Riverdale is the rising star of the CW network. If you look closely, then you might see that this series is really a combination of Archie Comics and the TV series Veronica Mars.
Riverdale is the dark interpretation of the once idyllic town from the Archie Comics. This series is in its sophomore season and is doing very well for the CW. The show is structured around multiple episode arcs where the characters solve some sort of dark mystery. The fact that all the character come from Archie Comics is just a nice candy coating that gives the whole series a flavor of nostalgia.

They have garnered a lot of attention for the over-the-top characters and the overall dark tone that the creators have chosen. There is something very attractive about a series that delves into dark topics and unfolds a solid mystery tale.
If all of this sounds a little familiar then maybe you’ve heard of another series called Veronica Mars. This Kristen Bell led show was also based in a seemingly idyllic town, called Neptune, where a group of high schoolers solve mysteries that the town police can’t seem to handle on their own. Veronica Mars and Riverdale both have die-hard fan bases. I like them both, but Mars still has a special place in my heart.
