The Orville finished a successful first season and fans are chomping at the bit to get more.

More from Hidden Remote

There hasn’t been much news about the second season of The Orville, only information about the renewal after a successful first season. How long will fans have to wait for more bridge shenanigans and new aliens?

Among other things, we need to know if Alara (Sage Halston) finds a man, if Gordon (Scott Grimes) gets a cat, and if Yaphit (Norm Macdonald) accepts that John (J. Lee) jumped him for engineering command. First things first, however, is a date for the second season.

When can fans expect to see season two premiere?

Fear not The Orville fans, it looks like there won’t be more than a year-long wait like previously feared. According to Seth MacFarlane’s Twitter account, the effects-heavy show is ahead of schedule. With so much special effects, it’s understandable why there was an initial worry about returning too soon. The quality bar has been set too high now to accept anything other than excellence. MacFarlane has made all fans giddy with anticipation:

Some are saying a Fall ’18 return is not possible, but MacFarlane consistently delivers. Expect the show to return later this year like he said. When the return will happen is not quite known, but it wouldn’t be shocking to see the The Orville reappear around the same time the first season premiered. The first season premiered on Sept. 10; so, anticipate a late September or early October timeline. Also…

One other interesting tidbit was released.

If you’re a fan of MacFarlane, you’re likely a fan of all his shows. So the news that The Orville will not crossover with Family Guy could come as a bit of a disappointment. Various reasons make a crossover complicated. Indeed, special effects alone make it very difficult. Furthermore, including Family Guy as a part of The Orville would feel like a cheap trick. A real sci-fi show doesn’t require links to a cartoon. The Orville has researched and included actual science into production, and inserting a character from Family Guy would sully the reputation being built.

Conversely, however, if they wanted to do something like have Isaac (Mark Jackson) continuously pronounce the “h” in words that start with “wh,” that would be the type of humorous, tongue in cheek nod to MacFarlane’s best known vehicle.
