First look at Tom Hardy as Venom’s Eddie Brock

The first photo of Tom Hardy as Venom’s Eddie Brock has been released; Hardy says he’ll “deliver the best venom he can possibly muster.”

The Venom movie is going full force with Tom Hardy taking the lead. He’ll portray Eddie Brock in this Marvel movie marking the character’s second appearance on the big screen with Topher Grace having played the character in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 back in 2007. Sony has desired its own cinematic universe and it looks like it will be a nice solo movie to start it  off.

Now comes an exclusive look at Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock in the following photo by IGN.

That black book looks mysterious. Of course, his comic book version is a reporter, so Hardy may be playing just that.

Last month at the Brazil Comic Con Experience, a panel with Venom director Ruben Fleisher explained that the Venom movie was been inspired by the Lethal Protector and the Planet of the Symbiotes book.

IGN also presented a prerecorded video of the panel. Fans cheered on as Tom Hardy showed up and said that he’ll do his best to do the part proud. He also showed off his custom t-shirt.

For those who have not read the Planet of the Symbiotes 5-issue series, it’s a story involving the Brock/symbiote relationship. It also entails Venom taking on a symbiote army with help from Spider-Man and Scarlet Spider.

The 6-issue Lethal Protector series deals with Venom turning into an anti-hero. So does it look like Hardy’s character is going this route?

It seems that the strategy of choosing certain story lines in Marvel comics leads to the formation of the character in the movies. Especially of his/her’s origins. These story pieces seem to be pretty good picks on the Studio’s parts to bring life to the Venom character.
