Simon Pegg and Nick Frost have frequently collaborated before. Now they’re coming back together to develop a comedy-horror show called Truth Seekers.

There are tons of movies and shows that boast of friendships and bromances. The actors portraying such roles even make the effort to maintain it during promotional tours to sell their product. And once that’s done, their facade is over as well. However, the bond between Nick Frost and Simon Pegg is one that has transitioned from the reel world to the real life and continued for decades. Now, they’re joining hands under the Stolen Picture banner to make their own TV show.

The duo began their journey on TV with Edgar Wright’s Spaced and have starred together in three of Wright’s movies: Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World’s End. In addition to that, Pegg & Frost have also worked together in Paul, The Boxtrolls, The Adventures of Tintin & Ice Age 4. As quality TV shows are on the rise again, the comedic juggernauts told Variety why they want to return to the small screen with Truth Seekers.

"“In terms of where the money is being made, and creatively, making episodic television is now no less nourishing than a two-hour movie. I’d rather have a lot less money and make a film or a TV series and have a great time doing it than put it through a million processes and people you don’t know and you don’t respect creatively.”"

More from Hidden Remote

While Nick Frost currently has his plate full with Tomb Raider, Fighting With My Family & Into the Badlands, Simon Pegg is slated to star alongside Margot Robbie in Terminal and finish Mission: Impossible 6. However, once that’s done, they’ve promised to devote their time to Stolen Pictures (which is backed by Sony Pictures Television) and develop Truth Seekers, a show that’ll see Pegg and Frost investigate weekly paranormal activities.

"“Each episode is going to be an adventure, a potential haunting or something. It’ll start as a very parochial idea, a very small business venture for these people, but it will expand as the series goes on to be something far more global. It’s a language everyone understands, the mystery of the unknown. ‘Shaun of the Dead’ was a very parochial story set in North London and somehow it managed to get this global reach because everyone understands the language of zombie movies.”"

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost’s chemistry has always led to some memorable comedic moments in cinema. So, it’ll be exciting to see how they implement their form of humor over the length of numerous episodes, and hopefully multiple seasons of the show. The creative team of Pegg and Frost’s Stolen Pictures includes James Serafinowicz & Nat Saunders and will be overseen by former Fox Searchlight and Bad Wolf exec, Miles Ketley as CEO.

Can Edgar Wright guest direct an episode of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost’s Truth Seekers?

While the British audience had the good luck of enjoying Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost’s shenanigans in Spaced, the rest of us began our journey alongside the trio with The Cornetto Trilogy. However, ever since Gary King (Pegg’s character in The World’s End) rushed at the screen with his sword drawn out, we’re yet to see the three of them make a movie together. Although Pegg, Frost and Wright’s involvement in The Adventures of Tintin might count but I’m aching to see them truly collaborate, even if it’s for one episode.

Considering how close Pegg, Frost and Wright are, it’s definitely not the lack of urge to work together that’s keeping them apart. The three of them have excelled at their respective avenues and are quite in demand, so it’s understandable how difficult it might be to match their schedules. However, between Baby Driver and Baby Driver 2, if there is a window of opportunity for him to guest direct even one episode, I hope he takes it. As Wright has shown his love for horror in the Grindhouse fake trailer Don’t, it’ll be a delight to see him do something similar in Truth Seekers.

Nick Frost and Simon Pegg shares a chemistry that cannot be imitated. As this on-screen duo has already built a strong fan-base, there’s no doubt that Truth Seekers will be heartily welcomed by them. In addition to that, as the TV viewing audience has gradually increased with the emergence of quality shows, I hope that their comedic flair draws in more and more fans from all around the globe.
