February might be the shortest month of the year but there is certainly no shortage of new shows premiering this month.

2018 started off with an impressive list of new shows throughout the month of January. As we enter a new month, it is officially time to take a look at the new series premiering over the next few weeks. Viewers will have to set aside extra time for new additions to their watch-list considering the number of returning shows this month. Homeland, The Walking Dead, and Ash vs. Evil Dead are a few of the notable returning series. And let’s not forget about the Winter Olympics.

Once again viewers will have a wide variety of picks to choose from. Sci-fi, horror, drama, comedy and even an animated series make up this month’s picks. Check out our top five series that are worth checking out this month and start planning your viewing schedule accordingly

1. Altered Carbon

Starring: Joel Kinnaman, Renée Elise Goldsberry, James Purefoy, Kristin Lehman, Martha Higareda

Network: Netflix

Premiere Date: February 2, 2018

Netflix’s latest takes viewers into a very dark and violent future. The cyberpunk sci-fi series takes place in the future where a human conscious can be stored in devices and digitally downloaded in separate bodies, referred to as “sleeves.” The series follows a mercenary, Takeshi Kovacs (Kinnaman), who is brought back to life after hundreds of years for an important mission. Kovacs has two choices, spend his life in prison for previous crimes or help solve a case involving the attempted murder of the richest man on earth (Purefoy). The dystopian tale is based on the 2002 novel by Richard K. Morgan.

2. Channel Zero: Butcher’s Block

Starring: Olivia Luccardi, Holland Roden, Rutger Hauer, Brandon Scott

Network: Syfy

Premiere Date: February 7, 2018

Butcher’s Block is the third installment for Syfy’s horror anthology series, Channel Zero. The season follows a woman named Alice (Luccardi) who moves to a new city and quickly learns of the area’s series of mysterious disappearances. She teams up with her sister (Roden) to investigate what is preying on the residents and how a rumor might be connected to the events. The first two seasons, Candle Cove and No-End House, received generally favorable reviews from viewers. The series has already been renewed for a fourth season set to premiere next year.

3. Everything Sucks!

Starring: Peyton Kennedy, Jahi Winston, Patch Darragh, Claudine Nako, Sydney Sweeney

Network: Netflix

Premiere Date: February 16, 2018

Netflix has a variety of new originals premiering this month. The second series on our list in a coming-of-age comedy set in the mid ’90s. The half-hour series is set in the town of Boring, Oregon and focuses on a group of students navigating the life of Boring High School. The angsty outsiders that make up the A/V Club and Drama Club come together to make a movie. The nostalgia filled series will be appealing to anyone who grew up before the days of social media.

4. Final Space

Starring: Olan Rogers, Fred Armisen, Tom Kenny, David Tennant, Gina Torres, Steven Yeun, Caleb McLaughlin, Ron Pearlman, Shannon Purser, Keith David, Andy Richter, Conan O’Brien

Network: TBS

Premiere Date: February 26, 2018

With the uptick in adult-themed animated series gaining popularity comes the newest series from TBS. An astronaut named Gary Space and his alien sidekick, Mooncake, set off to solve the mystery of “final space.” In other terms, they investigate if the end of the universe actually exists. Executive produced by TBS veteran Conan O’Brien, the intergalactic series also consists of a star-studded cast.

5. Good Girls

Starring: Christina Hendricks, Retta, Mae Whitman, Matthew Lillard, Reno Wilson, Manny Montana

Network: NBC

Premiere Date: February 26, 2018

The upcoming NBC crime drama might be the perfect way to end out the month of February. The series star three TV veterans–Hendricks, Retta, Whitman–as suburban moms going through tough times, especially financially. They devise a plan to rob a supermarket and actually come out victorious. Unsurprisingly, they find themselves way over their heads after their crime. Although considered a drama, the series will have a fitting amount of comedic moments.
