Damon Dayoub is coming into Chicago Fire in a recurring role, but what will that role be?

Stitchers’ Detective Quincy Fisher is coming to Chicago Fire. Well, Damon Dayoub is, in a recurring role as Jake Cordova. All that is currently known is that Jack is a rugged man’s man firefighter. With everything that’s happened in the cliffhanger ending, fans are curious over who this Jake could be.

Is it possible Jake will step in for Severide? The trailer and promo photos for Chicago Fire Season 6, Episode 12 shows Severide is definitely in some trouble. Derek Haas has also confirmed that both Casey and Severide will need some rescuing, but Casey is seen in the trailer walking around. Severide is unconscious in the water.

More from NBC

This wouldn’t be the first time someone has come in to stop in Severide’s place, although it will be for a very different reason. In Season 4, Captain Dallas Patterson stepped in when Severide was demoted temporarily. Personalities clashed, especially when Severide struggled to handle no longer being in charge of Squad 3.

Should Jake step in (hopefully just) temporarily, things will be difficult but possibly not as threatening as before. Everyone will know that Severide should be back, as soon as he is well enough. At least, this is something that can be theorized based on the promo.

Alternatively, Dayoub’s character could be a new member of the squad. Kannell took an open spot in Season 5, but left during the break between the seasons.

Jake could certainly come in to help add a spark back into the series. It will likely bring some conflict, especially for those worried about Severide’s recovery. This could even lead to some romance in the air, whether with Brett or even Severide’s mom, played by Army Wives’ Kim Delaney.
