Vikings Season 5 spoilers: Alex Hogh Andersen may have given Ivar’s fate away
The last of Vikings Season 5 and start of Season 6 are currently being filmed. Alex Hogh Andersen took to social media to share some behind-the-scenes footage and it may have given Ivar’s fate for Season 5 away.
As the title suggests, there are spoilers about Vikings Season 5 and beyond. If you haven’t caught the midseason finale, you won’t want to read on!
There are so many questions about Vikings Season 5 when the series returns. The midseason finale left us with the majority of main characters making it through alive, although not entirely unscathed. Lagertha is now tormented by her choice to kill her lover Astrid and the knowledge that Ivar has a stronger army than hers.

However, there has been speculation in the past that IVar the Boneless would meet his maker in the Season 5 finale. Some fans think Bjorn is going to kill his youngest half-brother, but Alex Hogh Andersen (who plays the tyrannous Ivar) has shared a photo of him on set. He conveniently put the hashtag #Season6, which suggests that Ivar is going to make it through the second half of the current season.

Of course, the hashtag could be something to thrown fans off the scent. And him filming Vikings Season 6 doesn’t mean he’s going to be around for the full season. Travis Fimmel, who played Ragnar Lothbrok, was killed off partway through Season 4 and he appeared in episodes after. It is possible that Ivar could remain in the series as a ghost to his brothers, tormenting them for their decisions to kill him.
Out of all the characters right now, Ivar the Boneless is one of the least likely to die. But his death at the end of Season 5 would be major. Nobody knows what happened to the real Ivar in history, which creates interesting options for writer and showrunner Michael Hirst. Could one of Ivar’s brothers kill him in his sleep as the only way to protect the Great Heathen Army?

The most likely character to die in Vikings Season 5 is Lagertha. She made it clear that she was ready for Valhalla and it would be fitting for this character that has gone from based on a real person to a completely fictional one. Katheryn Winnick, who plays Lagertha, is set up for directing more in Season 6, suggesting her death is definitely coming.
