#6 Sophia (Madison Lintz)

Sophia’s death has gone down as one of the first most shocking moments in The Walking Dead history. Sure, many have topped it (we’ll get to those momentarily), but this is a special one. Sophia served as the first major death in TWD. Everyone was sadden and shocked to see Walker-Sophia step out of the cabin. Even Shane didn’t have it in him to shoot her. And Daryl held a sobbing Carol back. Sophia was all Carol had left and cared to live for. It’s all very sad and tough to watch.

#5 Hershel (Scott Wilson)

Here’s a death we all saw coming, everyone except the characters of The Walking Dead, including Hershel. Hershel was being way too optimistic about his situation, but we all knew that there was just no way Hershel was going to get out of the Governor’s clutches alive. We loved him. We loved Spaghetti Tuesday on Wednesdays. Hershel came a long way. From believing walkers are still alive somehow and putting everyone in harm’s way to becoming everyone’s father figure, especially to Glenn and Rick.
