Gabi and Brett go undercover in Chicago Fire for the Intelligence Unit, but not everyone is happy about it.

The second of the two-night crossover event took place during the Chicago Fire episode, titled “Hiding Not Seeking.” Firehouse 51 and the Intelligence Unit joined forces to figure out where Shepherd was hiding and who his next victim would be.

If you didn’t catch the first part of the crossover, you’ll want to quickly read the Chicago P.D. recap first. I assume you’ve watched the episode or read the recap moving forward.

Brett and Gabi go undercover

We start where Chicago P.D. left us. Voight and Antonio discuss the sting they’d like Brett and Gabi to do. Boden has just one expectation: he’s in the van too.

More from NBC

Of course, Cruz isn’t happy with the idea, since the last time someone he knew went undercover for the Intelligence Unit, that person moved to Florida for three years. Yes, he’s still bitter about his brother no longer living with him and he’s definitely worried about Brett. I get it; I would be too if I was him.

Brett and Gabi go to the neighbor’s (George) house with the cover of doing wellness checks on all their chronic heart patients. He clearly doesn’t want to go through with it, but lets them in anyway. This gives Intelligence chance to find a way in to get a bug on the computer. All in a day’s work, really.

As it all goes down, there’s a knock at the door. It’s just George’s brother, but it puts everyone at risk. Fortunately, the bug plant goes through successfully so everyone can get out of the house.

Boden and Severide help find a lead

There’s a call out to an explosion in a residential neighborhood. Everyone is instantly on edge. The explosion was in the car, with a woman inside. Severide instantly finds remnants of a bomb, matching all the other bombs.

Halstead turns up, after hearing about an explosion on the scanner. The whole of Intelligence is on edge and it’s really not that surprising. However, it’s bad news for Intelligence. The bomber is now moving onto his family members, but that doesn’t seem to fit. Boden decides to throw a theory at Severide.

Boden questions whether there were some trial runs to practice. Now they need to figure out how to find that, so they turn to arson for help. They record all calls, so ask for anything linked to Shepherd’s residence. The hunch is right and research leads to a property two blocks away from Shepherd’s home. Severide was there for one of the calls, and admits that it seemed odd at the time but he thought nothing of it. Now it may have been Shepherd.

That property is connected to Starlight Properties, which is connected to an email on George’s laptop. Intelligence knows they have the right place. Sure enough, they have everything needed to make a pipe bomb with the same materials used for all the previous bombs. Now Voight needs to figure out where he’s going to attack next.

Intelligence intercepts an email regarding a package drop-off, so move in and take George down. George comments that it will all be over tonight, but gives no details.

Meanwhile in the basement, Intelligence finds photos of all those Shepherd is going after. Most photos have red crosses (feel a little Revenge like?), except one; his former editor. Everyone races to stop the bombing immediately. After evacuating the workplace, they realize the bomb could be at the station. Firehouse 51 heads to the train station to evacuate there.

Shepherd is here, with a homemade bomb vest. Severide and Casey are able to tackle him to the ground without the bomb going off, allowing Intelligence to save the last victim and arrest Shepherd.

Brett and Cruz air their differences but not all their feelings

Brett overhears Cruz complaining about Brett doing the undercover mission and not calling him when it was done. It’s clear that his feelings are escalating. Casey is the one who makes it clear to Brett that Cruz just cares and wears his emotions on his sleeve. There’s definitely no lie about that.

Eventually the two make up. Now all Cruz needs to do is admit the way he feels.

An end to Stella and Zach

Meanwhile, Stella has a dating issue. Meeting Zach’s sister is freaking her out, so she decides she should tell Zach to tap the breaks a little. However, after finding out that Severide went into the line of fire, Stella shares that she doesn’t want anything to happen to him and worries about him considering the situation.

Of course, Zach walks in as the two are in a question (but completely innocent) position. Rather than tell Zach the truth, Stella tries to pull that she thought about pulling a double shift for the bombings. Zach decides to put the brakes on anyway, deciding that he’s not going to play third wheel between Stella and Severide.

With it all over, Brett and Antonio hook up in the care, while Stella tells Severide Zach broke up with her. Stelleride decide to hang out at home together, making us want this ship to officially happen again.
