During the hiatus for This Is Us, Mandy Moore fulfilled a lifelong dreamed and climbed Mount Kilimanjaro. See the pictures!

When your favorite show wraps for the summer following its season finale, you’re filled with longing for the next season to begin. However, its stars finally have the chance to take a break from the late nights of creating entertaining television. The stars of This Is Us finished filming Season 2 ahead of last month’s finale, and they have each been keeping busy — especially Mandy Moore.

While her costars have been filming movies and going on book tours, Mandy Moore took advantage of the hiatus in order to fulfill a lifelong dream: climb Mount Kilimanjaro. It’s an impressive feat and an invaluable personal journey that she shared with her fiancé and closest friends. Having concluded her ascent and descent of the famous peak, Moore’s taking to her Instagram to share the experience with her followers as well.

The quartet of posts Mandy Moore posted contain handfuls of stunning photographs from the trip, each post adorned with thoughtful captions. In the first set of photos, Moore expresses her gratitude for the brand she partnered with, Eddie Bauer, as well as the opportunity to scratch the first item off of her bucket list. From the looks of it, the #CountdowntoKili was well worth the wait and a once in a lifetime experience!

Along with breathtaking photos of her journey, Moore shared equally beautiful stories and reflections from the life-changing trip. In one of the posts, she expresses her longing for the feelings attached to the ascent, such as the wonderful simplicity of being disconnected and unplugged from our fast-paced world.

“We were only tasked with one goal every day: to find our breath and put one foot in front of the other. No distractions, no other responsibilities. How liberating!” Moore wrote on Instagram. “Our phones didn’t work and it forced us all to be completely available to the practice and meditation of being present- with one another and with the climb.”
