Bob’s Burgers: Looking at Tina through the seasons
Season 8: “Go Tina on the Mountain”
So far in season 8, there haven’t been any Tina-centric episodes. “Go Tina On the Mountain” is the first one, but “Sit Me Baby One More Time” and “V for Valentine-detta” have both focused on Tina. However, the episode I’ll be talking about is “Go Tina on the Mountain.”
From this point on, there will be spoilers from this week’s episode. “Go Tina on the Mountain” starts off with the Belcher kids getting ready for a 4-day wilderness and educational camp. Once at camp, the counselor explains they can spend time inside and to be wary of the camp hermit. The Belcher kids decide to go on a hike but run into the hermit.
The kids spend time with the hermit, making friends with Martha. She explains how much she enjoys being alone instead of working as a team. To prove herself, Tina tries to climb the mountain by herself and unfortunately for Tina, Martha is a liar.
How “Go Tina on the Mountain” impacted Tina: This episode was full of ups and down for Tina. There were her moments with Martha including meeting her, trusting her and trying to emulate her. We have yet to see Tina really take to someone besides Dylan in season 7 but it’s all in vain as Martha lied to her.
Throughout the episode, we watch her try to shed her insecurities, leave her horrible nickname behind and ignore what people think. To try to prove herself, she starts to climb the mountain but has to be helped by her siblings, friends, the ranger and Martha. It was a huge moment of clarity for Tina as she learns to rely on others to climb up the mountain but she can still work alone.
Next: Bob’s Burgers: Looking at Bob and Linda through the seasons
Overall, this has been the best Tina-centric episode from season 8. We got to see her be both secure and insecure. It was a huge moment of maturity for Tina and hopefully, we’ll see more character development in future episodes.
Bob’s Burgers airs Sundays on Fox at 7:30/6:30c.
