Fall TV broadcast schedule: When do the network TV shows premiere?
By Sabrina Reed
Broadcast TV lovers, we made! The summer hiatus ends this month as the networks turn the lights back on in the scripted department and our favorite shows return to us. We'll also be treated to their new offerings as well which includes a couple of shows centered on action taking place on open water, a doctor with face blindness and a penchant for using unorthodox methods to help his patients, a single mother with a genius IQ who figures out the missing piece in a case while working as a cleaner, and that's just a taste of what's coming!
Of course, unscripted staples are coming back, too. We have new seasons of Survivor and Dancing with the Stars to enjoy while marveling at CBS new action adventure competition series The Summit and falling in love with Joan Vassos' journey on The Golden Bachelorette. There's so much to watch and keep us entertained this fall. Below, you'll find the premiere dates for the scripted and unscripted programs coming to network TV.
ABC TV schedule
The network is kicking things off with the return of Dancing with the Stars which will feature American sweetheart and Olympian gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik aka "Pommel Horse Guy" as one of the contestants. The dancing competition has been paired with the new procedural High Potential starring Kaitlin Olson as Morgan, a cleaner turned crime solver who is partnered with Karadec (Daniel Sunjata), a by-the-book detective who must get used to the brilliant woman's unconventional approach to case work.
The love story of the season will belong to Joan Vassos, our inaugural Golden Bachelorette in her own search for romance and partnership after having to leave Gerry Tuner's season of The Golden Bachelor earlier than planned. As for drama, Thursdays block will be jammed packed with it as Doctor Odyssey is sandwiched between primetime soaps 9-1-1 and Grey's Anatomy. The cruise ship medical drama from Ryan Murphy stars Joshua Jackson as Dr. Max Bankman, the new doctor on board who must balance keeping the fantasy the ship inspires alive while making sure no one dies on their vacation.
We're in for a wait when it comes to Abbott Elementary as the comedy is the only scripted program that's not coming in September but season 4 will make its premiere in October. We'll be brought up to speed on Janine and Gregory's relationship and why it's "dangerous" for the characters. As for The Rookie, The Conners, and Will Trent, they'll join the line-up in 2025.

NCIS: Origins is the biggest show coming to the network in the 2024-2025 TV season. The '90s set procedural follows Gibbs as a younger man in the aftermath of a life changing tragedy. While the flagship has delved into the beloved agent's life before, this prequel series will be the definitive road map of how Gibbs became the man that NCIS fans adore.
CBS will finally be releasing Matlock and Poppa's House, two shows that had been delayed due to the Hollywood Strikes in 2023. The Kathy Bates-led legal drama has been touted as "not your grandfather's Matlock" while the comedy from Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans, Jr. sees the father-son duo working through generational differences as they each navigate changes in their work and personal lives.
Two more freshman series making their debut are The Summit, which sees 16 strangers working together to climb a mountain peak for a chance to win a million dollars, and the Young Sheldon spin-off Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage. Of course, the network has their tentpole procedurals and comedies at the ready as well though we'll be saying goodbye to one of them in December. The CW TV schedule
Each year since Nexstar took over majority ownership of The CW, we've noted that the line-up for the network's Fall TV roster will look much different than longtime viewers of the fan are used to and that holds up for 2024, though we're starting to settle into the changes.
The must-watch show making its land is Superman & Lois which will be premiering its fourth and final season. That'll be appointment television for many and a great start to the week now that the Kents' story has been moved from Thursday to Monday on the schedule. The CW is launching its first attempts at game show programming with the debuts of the Raven-Symoné hosted Scrabble and LeVar Burton's Trivial Pursuit.
You'll note from the schedule below that The Librarians: Next Chapter is no longer in the network's fall line-up. This is not due to the fantasy drama being delayed or moved to the midseason, it has hopped channels. The program will now air on TNT in 2025, making it the first CW Studios show to be acquired by another network. The series has been replaced by The Wranglers, a reality TV series focused on 20somethings working on a dude ranch in Montana.
The CW's sports programming includes the premiere of the NASCAR XFinity series on the network along with the sports entertainment program WWE NXT which is bringing wrestling back to The CW for the first time in over a decade.

NBC TV schedule
Everyone's excited for the One Chicago shows to be coming back in September with the promise of a full season order for all three series and, of course, a new season of The Voice with the Queen of Country Reba McEntire is just what we need! But, we've got an intrigued eye on NBC's new medical drama Brilliant Minds as well. Starring Zachary Quinto as Oliver Wolf, a doctor with face blindness who uses unconventional methods to treat his patients while fostering the next generation of medical professionals, this series promises to be heartfelt, weird, and beautiful.
The network's other heavy-hitter franchise, Law & Order, will be back in October but Organized Crime won't be back, at least not on NBC. The Stabler-led program hasn't gotten the axe. It's been moved to Peacock for its fifth season (premiere date TBD). Found is sliding into its Thursday timeslot.
We'll be getting double the Reba come Friday, Oct. 18 as her new comedy Happy's Place is set to debut ahead of Lopez vs. Lopez season 3. The remaining fall shows--St. Denis Medical and Night Court season3--won't land until November.
