Timeless Season 2, Episode 6 recap: That’s my yeah!

The Time Team find themselves with a fourth person in the time of Robert Johnson, the King of the Delta Blues. Can they stop the Rittenhouse sleeper agent so he can record his albums?
Timeless Season 2, Episode 6 sees four people go into the Lifeboat, after Rufus and Jiya manage to fix the Lifeboat equations to allow a fourth seat. However, Wyatt isn’t one of the four. Agent Christopher has an important task for him in the modern day, while Conner Mason plays an integral role in the Time Team’s mission to 1936.
Set just two years after JFK’s time period in the previous episode, Timeless goes into the story of Robert Johnson, the King of the Delta Blues. Without his music, all of history will change and not just in the terms of Elvis, the Rollin’ Stones and Led Zeppelin.
Recording Robert Johnson’s album
When the Mothership jumps, it’s Conner who figures out where they’re going and why. Rittenhouse want to stop the legendary Robert Johnson from recording his album. For many, Johnson is known as the blues legend who made a deal with the devil for his talent. Others will know him as the start of rock ‘n’ roll as we know it now. Because of his music, the civil rights and peace movements of the 60s took place and it’s easy to understand now why Rittenhouse wants to stop him.
With four places in the Lifeboat now, Lucy, Rufus, Conner, and Flynn take a trip through time. Wyatt is kept at home for an important mission from Agent Christopher.

It doesn’t take long for the Time Team to find Johnson, since he’s at the hotel everyone expects. However, one of the sleeper agents is trying to shoot him just as the Time Team get there. Fortunately, Flynn stops the agent, but Johnson believes it’s a sign to give up playing guitar and he runs away. Lucy and Flynn remain to talk Johnson’s producer into recording the track, while Conner and Rufus go in search of Johnson.
When Rufus and Conner can’t convince Johnson to go back to the hotel, they convince him to go to his sister’s juke bar instead. He wants to go anyway to say goodbye to her, before he leaves for good. Rufus gets a message to Lucy and Flynn to meet them there. However, before Lucy and Flynn can do that, the producer is shot by another sleeper agent who is now off to find Johnson. Lucy and Flynn pack up the equipment and get to the juke bar.
As for Rufus and Conner, Conner starts to spiral about his life. Everything he has worked for is crumbling around him and he understands the need to run away. Their conversation is cut short by the sleeper agent, who goes to shoot Johnson. Instead, Conner pulls out his gun and shoots her. Clearly, he didn’t mean to, but it saved a lot of people’s lives.
Now it’s a case of recording the album. Conner can work the equipment, but after everything, he’s not in a mind frame to do it. Cue a pep talk from Rufus and then a pep talk for Johnson from Conner. Everything works and Conner becomes the producer for the album. He even gets a “yeah” into the recording. When Conner gets back to the present, he listens back to the recording and beams with pride as he says “that’s my yeah.”
Wyatt tackles Rittenhouse headquarters
Meanwhile, Wyatt is sent on a mission to get intelligence from the location Agent Christopher was held in the previous episode. When he gets there, it’s an empty building but he does take down an agent, who happens to have a key fob. With the serial number, Jiya locates where the key fob is registered to, which must be the Rittenhouse headquarters.
Sure enough, their hunch is correct. When Wyatt gets in there, one of the agents pulls the alarm, so Nicholas is aware that there’s someone in there who shouldn’t be. Nicholas starts destroying evidence, as Carol runs out to see what the commotion is. Wyatt has the chance to shoot Carol, but refuses to. That gives Emma time to power up the Mothership, Nicholas, and Carol to get on, and all of them escape to somewhere.
Agent Christopher isn’t happy with Wyatt’s refusal to shoot Lucy’s mom, but Wyatt doesn’t seem to have regrets about that. Honestly, for Agent Christopher that was personal and she’d have an extremely angry Lucy if that happened. The good news is Rittenhouse is on the run, but could this cause problems with the sleeper agents in the past?
Miscellaneous developments
Throughout the episode, there were a few developments in a couple of relationships. The first was Lucy and Flynn. They had time for a heart-to-heart, where Flynn shared more of everything he’d read in her diary, including the fact that she keeps a bottle of vodka under her bed. Flynn also shares that he would have liked Lucy to meet the Lucy he knows from the diary, because she’s a strong and courageous woman.

This development isn’t quite ship-status yet, but it’s an excellent development for Lucy’s character. Will we finally see her with that diary properly in Timeless Season 2?
The other development is with Jiya and Rufus. At the start of the episode, Jiya had another premonition. Rufus doesn’t want to hear about it, which means Jiya spends the episode questioning whether she should tell him or not. In the end, Rufus asks for the details. Jiya has seen Rufus by a coast and trapped by what look like cowboys. During the vision, Rufus is killed.
