This April, the Marvel Collector Corps turned to the latest MCU release, Avengers: Infinity War, for inspiration for its final box as part of its subscription service!

After an all-too short run, Marvel Collector Corps‘ time as a subscription service reached its conclusion this April as Funko turned to Marvel’s biggest cinematic release, Avengers: Infinity War, in hopes of ending this portion of the franchise’s run on a high note.

With countless characters featured within the film, the options were endless as Funko had its choice of the best and brightest heroes of the MCU to use as inspiration within the Infinity War box. But just which Avengers managed to make the cut? Join us now as we take a look at the month’s Infinity War offerings to see which heroes were lucky enough to make the cut!

Warning: The following post contains spoilers pertaining to the contents of the Marvel Collector Corps’ April box. If you have not yet received your April box and wish to avoid any spoilers, proceed at your own risk!

It seems only fitting that we kick off our look into this month’s box with its biggest offering: the Thanos with Sanctuary 2 Pop! Ride. Given Thanos’ role in Infinity War, there was always a strong possibility we’d see an item inspired by Thanos pop up in the box, but I’ll admit I hadn’t expected a Pop! Ride.

Looking at the figure, it’s an offering all Marvel collectors are sure to appreciate and no detail was overlooked in the creation of the figure. Given this is the final month in the Marvel Collector Corps’ run as a subscription service, it’s nice to see Funko pulling out the big guns with this Pop! Ride inspired by the villain at the heart of the biggest Avengers film yet.

I’ll be honest, I’m a bit conflicted when it comes to this particular item. While the effects of the mug when hot liquid is added is incredible and really pops, the item isn’t exactly unique. In fact, I saw a similar mug at my local Hot Topic just last week. While the mug isn’t exactly something I would have pictured being included in the Marvel Collector Corps box, it is a nice addition and fun way to deliver an unexpected offering which is not a figure.

When I pulled out the Avenger: Infinity War bandana from the April box, my first though was honestly, “Oh, this is a bit odd.” Sure the item features a strong design and is a great way to include Iron Man within the month’s offerings, but it’s not exactly an item I’ll be using anytime soon such as the Pop! ball caps and beanies we’ve seen in past boxes.

Now this is a great way to feature a variety of Marvel heroes and add an element of surprise at the same time. As discovered via social media, this month’s box includes a pair of Pop! Key Caps with two possible variations: Thanos and Spider-Man as well as Gamora and Iron Man.

From a design standpoint, these are the perfect way to show your Funko and Marvel pride outside of your home and office. I’m actually surprised it’s taken this long for Funko to release any Pop! inspired key caps but the wait was well worth it!

Each new Marvel Collector Corps box promises to provide subscribers with a box filled with $50 worth of exclusive, high-quality Marvel and Funko collectible products. With this in mind, let’s take a quick look at the estimated retail value of each of this month’s items:

  • Thanos with Sanctuary 2 Pop! Ride: $35-$40
  • Avengers: Infinity War Mug: $10-$12
  • Avengers: Infinity War Bandana: $7-$10
  • Pop! Key Caps: $7-$12

Looking at this month’s offerings as a whole, I have to admit I would have liked to have seen more heroes featured within the Infinity War box than those that managed to make the cut. Sure there was some variety with the Pop! Key Caps, but other than that things were every Thanos forward.

The Avengers: Infinity War mug lacked that sense of exclusiveness, while the bandana left me wanting more as I would have rather received a Pop! ball cap or beanie. I also have to admit I would have much rather seen a Pop! Moment over the Pop! Ride just to give some variety as we’ve already seen so many Thanos Pop! variations hitting shelves.

Overall, while the Infinity War box had some high notes, it just failed to hit the mark for me personally and left me wanting much more.
