2. Glover perfected Lando’s attitude

One key component of Lando Calrissian is his ability to be charming and get what he wants. It is also a great way to describe Donald Glover. Similar to Lando, Glover worked his way to the top in the TV, film and music world respectively. That type of drive, attitude and charismatic is exactly what Lando needed.

In the few clips and trailers we’ve seen, Glover embodies that. He dressed incredibly stylish, another trademark of Lando. He looks incredibly relaxed yet calculating as he is a card shark, smuggler and gambler. Everything about him screams danger with an air of coolness and Glover has portrayed that in every single clip we’ve seen.

To prepare for the part, Glove met with the original Lando, Billy Dee Williams. In an interview, Glover shared Williams’ advice: “And then he just told me, just be charming… He said, “Just be interested in things.” Glover seems to have taken that advice, making Lando a suave yet calculating character.

If the current obsession with Lando proves anything, it’s that fans are excited to see a young Lando and that Glover is doing a good job. Playing Lando is tough, but Glover seems to have the perfect blend between honoring Williams and making Lando his own.
