Timeless: Social ratings prove it is worth renewing

Nielsen Social published their Top 5 and Top 10 rankings and Timeless is up there amongst some of the biggest shows on primetime TV.

#RenewTimeless is going around once again. All eyes are on NBC to see if they will renew Timeless for a third season now that the season 2 finale has aired. Suspicions are that the series will be canceled but fans, also known as #ClockBlockers, are desperate for that not to happen and the latest Nielsen Social ratings could be exactly what the show needs to convince network bosses that Timeless is wanted.

The problem with Timeless is that it isn’t pulling in enough live viewers. That’s it. It has a great cast, great story, production is amazing and it has a huge and loyal fanbase. But when it comes to live viewing figures, the one stat networks care most about, it doesn’t quite cut it.

However, networks are starting to pay attention to the social ratings and this week’s round by Nielsen Social had Timeless in both the Top 5 and Top 10 rankings. It came #1 in the Top 5 for the weekend rankings and #2 for the Top 10 of the week.

That is pretty impressive by itself but when you compare to who it beat, it’s even more impressive. It ranked higher than Westworld, American Idol, Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance and Brooklyn Nine-Nine for the weekend.

All of them major, and considered more popular shows. Whats even more impressive is that it beat Brooklyn Nine-Nine. They had just been canceled by FOX and thanks to a social campaign have been picked up and saved by NBC. So clearly NBC do listen to what fans are saying.

Looking at the Top 10 for the whole week it was only beaten by The Voice. Yet it came ahead of Grey’s Anatomy, a show that is considered hugely more popular than Timeless. It also came ahead of The Big Bang Theory, which aired its season finale and is considered one of the most popular shows currently on air.

So if NBC honestly needed some hard evidence that Timeless is worth a renewal. This is it. And that is all down to every single one fo you #ClockBlockers.

Pay attention NBC we want, and rightfully deserve, a Timeless season 3. #RenewTimeless!
