NBC takes Brooklyn Nine-Nine back from Fox after cancellation.

Fear not Nine-Nine fans, it isn’t quite over yet. After Fox dropped hit show Brooklyn Nine-Nine after its fifth season, NBC gladly decided to pick up where they left off. Here is a short timeline of the events of the last few days concerning the Nine-Nine :

On Thursday, May 10, 2018, the show was briefly canceled, but nonetheless, fans were furious and devastated. Feelings were spread all over the Twitterverse.

Some resented Fox a lot.

Some were genuinely hurt by the cancellation.

Others were already mourning the show’s wasted potential.

But fans didn’t have to hurt for very long, because just after one day, on Friday, May 11, 2018, the show was picked up by NBC. Brooklyn Nine-Nine was clearly too successful to let go of.

High praise all around

All five of Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s seasons have never scored lower than an 88% from Rotten Tomatoes critics, three out of five of those seasons being rated 100%. The average viewer’s score was also very high, at 94%. Plenty of people will be looking forward to the return of Jake Peralta and the rest of the 99th precinct.

The show has also won two Golden Globe Awards in the past four years.

Returning to their roots

Before Brooklyn Nine-Nine aired on Fox, it was originally offered to NBC, so you can only imagine how ecstatic the NBC team was to re-inherit the show with a growing fanbase. “Ever since we sold this show to Fox I’ve regretted letting it get away, and it’s high time it came back to its rightful home,” said the executive and chairman of NBC Entertainment, Robert Greenblatt. He continues saying, “Mike Schur, Dan Goor, and Andy Samberg grew up on NBC and we’re all thrilled that one of the smartest, funniest, and best cast comedies in a long time will take its place in our comedy line-up. I speak for everyone at NBC, here’s to the Nine-Nine!”

It seems as if Greenblatt is almost as excited as we are for the upcoming season.

The sixth season doesn’t have an official release date yet but is set to have 13 episodes aired to continue the show, making fans happy once again.
