The Looming Tower exclusive: A look at the real Ali Soufan
The Looming Tower will be available digitally on May 21. This exclusive clip takes a look at the real Ali Soufan and why he was so important in the real story about the 9/11 attacks.
“Ali Soufan is probably a person that most Americans don’t know.” This is the way executive producer and author Lawrence Wright starts the exclusive clip to mark the digital release of The Looming Tower. He’s likely right. One thing the novel and 10-part series does is delve into the real story about the 9/11 attacks and the role Ali Soufan played.
“I don’t know anyone more patriotic than he is,” executive producer Dan Futterman explains during the clip, while explaining Soufan’s background, time spent in the FBI, and so much more. This is a clip that will help you understand the man, who is portrayed by Tahar Rahim in the series.

The 10-part series is based on the novel by Wright and he had a hand in adapting it for the screen. Released on Hulu, the digital release comes just 30 days after the series finale (it was a limited series, so no second season) aired. You’ll be able to get all 10 episodes in high definition, along with never-seen-before bonus content.
This exclusive clip from The Looming Tower is from one of five digital bonus and DVD bonus materials. It’s just a snippet of Ali Soufan: In His Own Words and looks inside at the real man, who he was, what he did to help Americans, and why he needs to be remembered. As the title suggests, Soufan has a chance to talk himself about his memories and the time with his mentor John O’Neill.
Take a look at the clip to get you ready for the digital release date of the series.
