Starting out June with the wedding of the summer, Marrying Mr. Darcy, the sequel to the Hallmark Channel’s Unleashing Mr. Darcy, will premiere on June 2, continuing the romantic story of Elizabeth Scott and Donovan Darcy.

Nothing like a June wedding, and Hallmark is starting out their June wedding romances out with the highly anticipated Marrying Mr. Darcy.

Now the millions of fans of Unleashing Mr. Darcy  will finally get their wish with a sequel to the popular reimagining of Pride and Prejudice, except with Cavalier King Charles Spaniels co-stars!

More from Drama

The original movie, Unleashing Mr. Darcy is taken from the Teri Wilson romance of the same name. The story is about a highly opinionated schoolteacher Elizabeth Scott, portrayed by Cindy Busby, who suddenly finds herself jobless because of a disreputable parent who unjustly tarnished her reputation.

Despite her negative circumstances, Lizzie still takes her dog Bliss, named after Queen Victoria’s own precious Cavalier, and competes at a prestigious dog show.

There, she encounters a gorgeous, but arrogant judge. Turns out he is the wealthy businessman and philanthropist, Donovan Darcy, portrayed with perfect haughtiness by Ryan Paevey.

The two instantly clash, causing sparks wherever they meet.  Elizabeth’s friend Gabrielle describes the couple as exciting as Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.

Anyone familiar with the Jane Austin classic will find delightful parallels between Pride and Prejudice and Unleashing Mr. Darcy in characters as well as dialogue. The dog shows have sort of become the replacement for Netherfield, where Darcy and Elizabeth wittily spar.

Despite many prejudices and misunderstandings, which includes a Darcy pool scene–a nod to the Colin Firth BBC Pride and Prejudice, a glittery ball and passionate public kiss, the two are finally united.

Although released two and a half years later, the Marrying Mr. Darcy timelines is actually just six months after the finish of the first movie.

In the the latest Hallmark Darcy movie, Donovan does romantically propose to Elizabeth. Yet, Lizzie’s plans for a small, fall wedding are now taken over by  Aunt Violet (Frances Fisher).

Yet Darcy’s aunt wants a glittery June princess wedding, and Lizzie is now caught up with what everyone else wants, and she finds herself doubting whether she wants to go through with marrying the delectable and dashing Donovan.

Marrying Mr. Darcy promises that Elizabeth Scott and Donovan Darcy do marry.
