#15 In Love and War

Original Release Date: December 18, 1996

Box Office Earnings: In Love and War gathered $25.3 million in theaters, $10.8 million of that overseas, the rest domestically. The estimated budget for the movie is not known. And while the total for the film’s theatrical run may seem love, let’s keep in mind movie tickets in 1996 were not nearly as expensive as they are today.

Critical Acclaim: According to critics, In Love and War is a flop. At Rotten Tomatoes, it has a low score of 11% Rotten. Ouch! But, as we always say, this score is not always an accurate representation of the movie. Not to mention, it looks like only 27 critics gave their review.

About the Role: Sandra Bullock stars as Agnes von Kurowsky, an American nurse sent to help out wounded soldiers at World War I. She meets and takes care of Ernest Hemingway (Chris O’Donnell), a romance blossoms!

Simply the Best: In Love and War is a frustrating love story. It’s definitely not your typical happy-ending film, if that’s what you’re looking for. Instead, it’s more realistic.
