Last week on Colony the Bowmans were ready to begin new lives in the Seattle colony. We catch up with them fully settled in, just as they start to realize things aren’t what the seem.

Our most recent episode of Colony saw the Bowmans settling in to their 3rd permanent residence of the season. We started out in the cabin in the woods before moving to the resistance camp. Both of those locations ended up being raided by The Occupation, forcing them to move. This one, however, belongs to The Occupation and therefore allows them to move around with ease. They did create false identities and are now the Dalton family. We do know that those in power are aware of their real names, though that doesn’t come into play in this episode.

Flashback

As has become a very welcome staple of Colony, we started with a flashback. This one to the time when the Seattle colony was facing an uprising. Evertt Kynes (Wayne Brady) seems to be happy that the city is burning. He ignores a few calls until the person in charge finally calls him. He asks her to admit that they were wrong for misusing his algorithm and to meet the hosts. He ends his phone call by saying that he can build the model colony but there will not be any red hats or prisons near the colony.

More from Drama

The character is still a mystery at this point but it’s clear this colony is run very differently. This episode gives us a deep dive into the impressive colony, before letting us in on one of its secrets.

The Daltons

Back in the present, the episode begins to let us know what the “Daltons” are up to. Will is doing undercover work, looking for a guy named Terry Lennox. He’s at a nice bar chatting up a woman who is friendly until he says that name. It’s unclear at this point what he’s doing.

He then leaves the bar and hops into some sort of cab. It appears he’s driving for some type of uber-esque service within this colony. These scenes let us know they have modern jobs, cell phones, and some semblance of freedom.

The rest of the family

Back at their home, we learn that Gracie is in school. We also learn that Katie has a job working at the gate. She’s doing the same job as Iris, the lady who did their intake. Bram also has a job. He’s a driver for a food delivery service within the colony.

Terry Lennox

Will meets with a lady at her home. She’s the wife of the mysterious Terry Lennox and has hired Will to find him. He tells her that he’s heard stories about people being abducted within the colony but she says that her son saw him. Since she doesn’t have a picture Will has to use other clues. One of the clues that he gets is that Terry liked vintage cars.

Back on the prowl, Will waits outside the lady from the bar’s house until a man pulls up. It’s her husband and he’s cooperative unlike his wife. The husband confirms he was in a group with Terry and his wife just after the invasion. They were separated after walking drones came in and destroyed their camp. He assumed the Lennox family was killed. When asked if he liked vintage cars, he says no.

The break

Though this didn’t accomplish much, Will follows up on his other lead and finds an auto shop that has a few vintage cars. After a conversation with the shop owner, he gets her to remember that she sold a blue Chevy to a man who fits the description of the man he just met. The man who claimed to be the friend of Terry Lennox.

Will goes back to the house, and this time he goes into the garage. Mr. “Crane” is working on his vintage Chevy and is caught. He tells Will that he and Lillian (the woman from the bar) had been making plans to leave their spouses before the invasion. He can live with himself because he made sure his actual wife and kids got in. Will proceeds to beat him but before he delivers the death-blow he sees his reflection on the car and stops.

Katie’s dilemma (Laura)

Katie is an advocate for a family who has been waiting 4 months to get in. Skilled laborers have priority and neither parent is skilled so they are on a wait list. Her co-worker, Michelle, suggest she “re-interview” them. She does a leading interview and her family is bumped to the top of the list.

Problems at home

While walking home from school, Gracie asks Bram if their parents are getting a divorce. We don’t know anything about any issues but it’s clear Bram is concerned as to what she’s heard.

That night, the Dalton’s are entertaining. Apparently, they are hosting a party to congratulate their neighbor, Roger, for becoming the new community patrol captain. Roger asks Will if he has any interest in joining the community patrol and Will claims that law enforcement isn’t his thing. Roger looks at him as if he knows he’s lying. Or perhaps is just confused by how unfriendly Will is being.

Will leaves the party and goes upstairs where Michelle follows him. After failing to lie by saying she was looking for the bathroom, she tells Will that he should try to fit in because not a lot of people get second chances. She also warns him that people are watching but he’s not taking her seriously. I’m pretty sure Michelle knows they’re lying about who they are.

After the party

After the party, Katie is upset with Will for not trying. She’s doing what she has to do to keep the family safe. Will, meanwhile, is acting out because he’s upset that they’re in another colony. He’s mad at Kate for leaning in, saying that she’s not the Katie from L.A. When she tries to talk to him he leaves the house.

Bram

Right after Will leaves, Bram also heads out. He lies and says he’s doing late night deliveries but he’s actually going to a party to hang out with a girl he’s apparently dating. He’s met her family and he’s told her about his family’s problems.

Conclusions

The next day, Katie is trying to access the info of the family she helped but can’t. She gets Michelle to show her where the family is but Michelle flashes the address quickly and says they’re fine. It’s clear she doesn’t want Katie to know. Katie is a spy however and she saw the address just long enough.

She goes to the house apartment with a gift and arrives to find an empty apartment. When she goes to the window we see a wide shot showing that all of the windows are to empty apartments. They’re lying and saying that they’re sending people to these places but actually sending them somewhere else.

Bram

Bram goes to the employment people and asks for a new job. His friend at work mentioned that he was getting a job that also came with housing and Bram mentions that he wants the same. He mentions that he might have to take care of his younger sister.

Will

Will slept in his car overnight and is woken up by an officer. He has a missed call from Mrs. Lennox and goes to see her. He lies to her and tells her that her husband died of a heart attack.

When he gets back in his car, he has a passenger. It’s Broussard. He asks what Will thinks of Seattle and the episode ends with Will smiling.

Next episode

Based on the preview of the coming episode, the Bowmans are going to be investigating what’s going on in Seattle. It would not surprise me if they are back in a situation where they aren’t communicating, but this could also be what brings them back together.

The previews showed that both Broussard and Snyder will be in this coming episode so this will feel like quite the reunion.

Colony returns next Wednesday at 10/9 Central on USA Network.
