Luke Cage returns to Netflix today. Where’s our hero now, and what has he been up to over the years?

Spoilers for The Defenders as well as season one of Luke Cage and Jessica Jones.

Luke Cage season 1 was a bonafide hit that landed with audiences and critics alike with a compelling hero, solid villains (let’s just forget about Diamondback) and major connections to both the MCU and the zeitgeist. It may have quite literally broke Netflix, and took home another Emmy for the small-screen Marvel stable.

We’ve been sitting on our hands waiting for season 2 for a while now, and now our patience has paid off. But before you sign onto Netflix for a major weekend binge, we’re here to recap what’s been on our hero’s radar since his latest outing.

Luke’s been a major presence on three of the six series in the Netflix Marvelverse, appearing in more franchises than any other of the four Defenders. We first saw him as a crimefighting partner/love interest on the first season of Jessica Jones, with Luke eventually moving back to Harlem after helping Jessica take care of public menace Killgrave.

More from Marvel Movies

In his own first season, Luke transforms from a quiet presence to the hero of Harlem, coming up against villains like gangster Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes and his sister, Councilwoman Mariah Dillard. After being sent back to jail thanks to Mariah’s interference, he returned in The Defenders to fight The Hand alongside Jessica, Daredevil and Iron Fist.

Now that he’s a free man with the support of Harlem at his back, count on Luke to bring the fight back to Mariah, although the appearance of a new villain named Bushmaster might make these two foes team up to take him on. Check out the trailer below.

With Netflix’s winning streak of Marvel entries, cancel any plans you’ve made for the weekend, grab your stretchy-pants and get ready for a long stretch of binge-watching.

Next: Does Luke Cage need more Jessica Jones? Absolutely.

Luke Cage season 2’s 13 episodes are available on Netflix now.
