In the awaited sequel to 2019’s Captain Marvel film, Carol Danvers returns to the big screen, but now with two other powerful heroes by her side: Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan. Here’s what we know about the film and the The Marvels streaming premiere.

Even though the character was introduced in Captain Marvel, many fans will remember S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Monica Rambeau from her journey in the hit series Wandavision on Disney+. Young hero Kalama Khan, aka Ms. Marvel from the series of the same name, completes the superhero trio.

Marvel Studios has teased that in The Marvels, Carol Danvers will have “reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence.” However, her actions cause a chain of undesirable effects, and she finds herself in an “anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary.” This is where things get especially weird for Captain Marvel.

In what we assume are consequences from the wormhole, Carol’s powers become tangled with both Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan, resulting in the location-swap between the heroes whenever one of them uses her powers. Marvel Studios highlights that in The Marvels, it is “this unlikely trio” who “team up and learn to work in concert to save the universe.”

Disney+ will be the home for The Marvels streaming online, but before that happens, the film will only be released in theaters on Friday, Nov. 10 for a proper theatrical run. Other films premiering recently have seen simultaneous theatrical and streaming releases, but this is not what is happening for The Marvels.

It’s very likely that you’ll be able to stream The Marvels online in early 2024 as it can take up to nearly 90 days after a Marvel film’s theatrical debut for it to land on Disney+. If that pattern holds, the Captain Marvel sequel could come to the streamer in February next year. However, Marvel Studios and Disney+ have not yet announced the date for when subscribers can expect the film to be available on the platform, so Hidden Remote will keep you posted on an exact date.
