Box Office Earnings: Worldwide, The Great Gatsby went on collect $353.6 million. From this total, $144.8 million is domestic and $208.8 million overseas. The movie was put together with a budget of $105 million, so it made over three times its budget.

Critical Acclaim: At the Academy Awards, it scored an Oscar for Best Production Design and Best Costume Design. Best Film, Best Direction, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Actor in a Leading Role, Best Actress in a Leading Role, Best Actor in a Supporting Role, and more, at the AACTA Awards! Despite all the award nominations and wins, The Great Gatsby didn’t do so well with critics, scoring only 49%.

About the Role: Leonardo DiCaprio stars as the man himself, Jay Gatsby, in this modern classic. He plays a convincing role, delivering true emotions. At times we can’t help but feel bad for Gatsby, as we see behind his elegant parties. DiCaprio is exactly who we envisioned as we read the book.

Simply the Best: It’s story you know, but a great adaptation that feels refreshing. It’s like watching the book come to life with stunning visuals, vibrant costumes (the movie did win Best Costume Design, after all) and stellar performances.
