Box Office Earnings: The Revenant was a pricey project? How expensive? $135 million! But the investment paid off immensely. Throughout its theatrical run, the movie gathered $532.9 million worldwide. $183.4 million of this came from domestic box offices and $349.3 million overseas.

Critical Acclaim: This movie did amazing with both critics and fans, scoring an 80% Fresh score at Rotten Tomatoes (84% with audiences). It rocked the award shows. Some of its wins include Best Motion Picture — Drama, Best Director, and Best Actor — Drama, at the Golden Globes. Its honors didn’t stop there, at the Academy Awards, The Revenant received 12 nominations, these include Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Supporting Actor. The movie also won the most awards at the 69th British Academy Film Awards.

About the Role: This is the movie that scored Leonardo DiCaprio an Academy Award — finally! Very well deserved, and a long time coming, too. Now we understand why Leonardo wanted to take a break after this big win.

Simply the Best: Audiences couldn’t stop praising The Revenant after it premiered at the TCL Chinese Theater. And even with a limit release, the movie quickly blew up. The movie is accelerating. While it doesn’t pick up straight away, audiences patience is rewarded.
