How many days before Infinity War does Ant-Man and the Wasp take place?

Fans already know Ant-Man and the Wasp takes place before the devastating events in Infinity War. But how long before it, exactly?

Marvel fans can catch Ant-Man and the Wasp in theaters as early as Thursday night, with the movie’s official premiere date on Friday, July 6. We attended the advanced screening for it earlier last week and loved it! I went in wondering what I would be seeing in the credits scenes, but the movie is so fun to watch, I quickly forgot all about the post-credit features. Once Ant-Man and the Wasp was over, though, the nail-biting moment began again as the credits rolled!

We won’t spoil all the post-credit scene details yet (check the site tomorrow morning for that!), but these scenes do answer the question — when in the Infinity War/MCU timeline does Ant-Man and the Wasp take place?

SPOILER warning: We do our best to avoid major spoilers, but movie details are below! If you wish to not know anything about the movie, leave now.

More from Marvel Movies

The movie begins a couple of years after Captain America: Civil War. Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) received a two-year house arrest sentence, and more time after that in probation. When we first see Scott, he only has three days to go to finish his two-years and is able to have his ankle bracelet removed.

After those three days, Hope (Evangeline Lilly), Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), and Hope’s mom, Janet (Michelle Pfeiffer), spend some time working on sending Scott back to the Quantum Realm to further study it. And in the first, extremely momentous, post-credit scene, it is the day everyone prepares for Scott’s Quantum Realm trip — and it’s also the day Thanos snaps his fingers.

Next: Whose Infinity War fate is revealed in Ant-Man and the Wasp?

How do we know? One or more (we’re not spoiling this yet!) of the characters listed above turn to ashes. From that, we can guess the movie takes place a month or two before Infinity War, give or take, with the final moments happening at the same time as the Avengers are fighting Thanos.

Don’t miss Ant-Man and the Wasp in theaters Friday, July 6!
