We knew we’d be seeing some Aquaman footage during SDCC and the trailer has finally arrived. Be sure to watch this one.

Jason Momoa was teasing the new trailer before it released and now that it has, we see why he was so excited about it. Momoa first appeared as Aquaman in Justice League and he felt like a nice fit for the role. Now, we get to learn a lot more about the character with his solo film.

The rest of the cast is pretty impressive, too. Nicole Kidman is Queen Atlanna, Dolph Lundgren is King Nereus, Willem Dafoe is Nuidis Vulko, Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson is Orm and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is Black Manta.

One of the instantly noticeable things in the trailer is how bright Atlantis is when Aquaman first returns. With the city being underwater, it looks pretty decent. Since this is just a trailer, it’s likely that CGI and other post-production work is still in progress. Hopefully we’ll have some better graphics in this than in Justice League.

More from DC Movies

Jokes have always been part of superhero movies. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don’t, but the ones in this trailer seem to go over well. They might not be in quite the same context once we see the the full movie, but for now, they are entertaining.

Aquaman is the only live-action movie that we’ll be getting from DC this year, but they do have 3 scheduled for next year. It’s been a bit of a gap between Justice League and this, but it looks like things are picking up for the company.
