Enter The Dragon to possibly have Deadpool 2 director at the helm. Early talks as of now. Can we hope to recapture the original Bruce Lee iconic film?

Enter The Dragon is a legendary movie with the legendary hero, Bruce Lee. It brought on board an iconic star with exceptional martial arts prowess. Now, Deadpool 2 director David Leitch is said to be in early talks to helm the movie, according to Deadline Hollywood.

Way back in 2007, Warner Independent planned on the remake entitled Awaken The Dragon which was slated to be written by Sons of Anarchy writer, David Sutter, according to Rotten Tomatoes via Variety.

In 2009, Slash Film, via Latino Review, reported that Korean pop star Rain was set to play Bruce Lee’s character, but an update said it was still unclear. How will a pop star experienced individual take on a martial arts motion picture? Rain did star in Ninja Assassin, so he has demonstrated abilities and experience. He seems pretty determined by his facial expressions and the passion for the craft.

Also, Enter The Dragon’s original producers, Fred Weintraub and Paul Heller, was reported back then to take on Awaken The Dragon. So this may give others a sigh of relief if we were to have people on the crew of the remake who got their hands dirty with the classic.

To note, it was reported to be a different take on the original. In a noir, fight-club-like theme.

"“It will not be a faithful version but rather a contemporized remake, with noir undertones, set in the illicit world of fight clubs.”"

Also, a short premise:

"“A lone FBI agent who pursues a rogue Shaolin monk into the bloody world of underground martial arts fight clubs.”"

I do wonder if the Enter The Dragon remake reports from around a decade  ago is accurate up to this day. Deadline said Warner Bros. is looking for a writer, so is Sutter out of the running? What about Rain and the original producers, are they still on board since the original reports?

The original sources of Latino Review and Variety no longer have the corresponding articles which connected to Slash Film and Rotten Tomatoes, so we can’t be sure if the information is now outdated.
