Watching Teen Titans Go! to the Movies in theaters this weekend? Here are five things to know before you do…

Earlier this week, we caught the advanced screening for Teen Titans Go! to the Movies! It’s an adorable and hilarious superhero movie for your child (or inner child) to watch in theaters this weekend. And if you’re like me, a parent who has been waiting for an animated, kid-friendly superhero movie to introduce your little one to the world of heroes, Teen Titans Go! to the Movies is the perfect choice! Because, sure, Incredibles is also a fine option, but if you’ve been wanting to launch your young son or daughter into the iconic DC Universe, don’t miss this one!

But before you head out, here are five cool things to know about the movie. However, if you wish not to know anything at all about the movie, teasers and light spoilers are ahead!

#5 It’s a musical

Teen Titans Go! to the Movies is packed with laughs, but it’s also stuffed with a handful of songs. While I don’t remember exactly how many, there are definitely over four musical numbers, five if you count one song the Teen Titans jam to twice.

#4 Stan Lee’s cameo

The rumors are true, Stan Lee makes a hilarious cameo in the Teen Titans Go! movie. No, he has not ditched the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he would never! But, as he explains in the movie, he simply loves cameos. And he’s the best at them, too.

#3 Marvel jokes

Speaking of the MCU, the Teen Titans name dropped the Universe more than once. You’ve already seen one of these moments in the trailer, when the Teen Titans couldn’t believe Slade isn’t actually Deadpool. There’s a few more, too.

#2 Character origin stories

Don’t worry about the characters who had a rough start (Robin’s parents, Bruce Wayne/Batman’s parents, etc.), the movie is very kid-friendly. The violence (the murder of the Wayne’s, for example) is insinuated, but not shown. It’s suggested in a way though, that is sure to make the adults laugh.

light. Must Read. 5 Movies to watch on Netflix in August

#1 Teen Titans history

The Justice League is a better known group than the Teen Titans, but audiences don’t have to read up before this movie. You don’t need to know their stories, or much about them really, to enjoy the movie. It helps, of course, but it’s not necessary. In a song the Teen Titans will be performing (twice) in the movie, they give viewers a super quick recap of who they are and what they can do. And in another scene, they share what they would be doing and where they would be if it wasn’t for Robin, who brought them together.

Teen Titans Go! to the Movies is in theaters this Friday, July 27, with early screenings beginning Thursday evening.
