Guardians of the Galaxy cast members release a digitally signed statement to rehire James Gunn. Is this an act of defiance against Disney and if so, how will the company react to nine members’ united testimonial?

James Gunn has been through a ton lately and now, the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 and 2 cast brought to the Internet a digitally signed statement in support of their friend and director James Gunn. Although they do not defend the jokes he made on Twitter, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, brother Sean Gunn, Pom Klementieff, and Michael Rooker do wish that he be reinstated to helm Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

It was written on a reverse black and white document, which is quite the opposite of typical documentation, and signed in kind of a Declaration of Independence-style format at the bottom.

The cast feels that James Gunn’s redemption is something that should be considered and believes that some of those involved with the divisiveness in this country were duped into believing “outlandish conspiracy theories”. This, in turn, led to Gunn’s dismissal by Disney.

With this amount of support from the cast, they have no qualms whatsoever in continuing with working with him in the future. They believe his heart is truly genuine and remain consistent with that of his recent apology and his apology from back then in regards to the tweets.

The above was shared across the board by the other signed cast members and they obviously needed the time to think about what they were about to write. Dave Bautista was most vocal about the James Gunn firing. Zoe announced that she was going to hold off until she was ready to make a statement. Pom Klementieff posted a quick video clip of her writing a message. Others had their say, but it finally came to fruition how they really feel now.

John Campea, a Hollywood commentator in the YouTube sphere, gave his take and thought this to be an act of defiance against Disney and questioned whether this will make an impact with the company in hiring anyone else other than James Gunn for the third installment. Campea considered this to be an “odd move by the actors”.

There is something to be said when this many cast members have Gunn’s back and their testimony proves that they still have faith in him as a director and his character. But how much weight will this carry?
