The ever changing services, pricing, and strategies are causing alarms that MoviePass might be on the way out the door. With this in mind, here are some movie subscription services you may not know about.

It’s a weird time to be a member of MoviePass. The constant changes in pricing and offerings make it hard to be a member, as well as the constant outages in the app. With the latest news on the company removing new releases and raising the price, the future for MoviePass looks grim.

Which begs the question, what other services are there? Well, we put together a list of currently active movie subscription plans that might work in case MoviePass goes under. Here are four movie subscription alternatives besides MoviePass that are worth checking out.

Sinemia Private Movie Club

Sinemia is very close in concept with MoviePass except they offer IMAX, 3D, and all formats depending on which plan you use. Beyond this, they also have a wonderful plan for couples that want to see films together. The prices vary depending on how many films you intend to see a month as well as whether or not the consumer cares to see films in more expensive formats such as IMAX.

Prices:

  • Classic Plans start out at $3.99/month for 1 ticket monthly, to $8.99/month for 2 tickets monthly.
  • The Elite Plans include all formats (IMAX, 3D, etc.) and start out at $9.99/month for 2 tickets to $14.99/month for 3 tickets.
  • Movie Days for Two- Classic plans start out at $7.99/month for 1 date night for two moviegoers to $15.99/month for 2 movie date nights a month.
  • Movie Days for Two-Elite plans start out at $19.99/month for any format of a couple’s choosing for 2 movie nights.  The second option is 3 movie date nights for 2 on any format for $29.99/month.

AMC Stubs A-List

This is probably the most accessible option for most movie fans that live in city areas. If you live close to an AMC it’s basically a no-brainer decision. You get 3 movies a week at the handsome rate of $19.95 and this includes any format of your choosing. For those who frequent IMAX frequently, this basically pays itself off in two visits to an IMAX film. Plus, there are bonuses such as 10% off concessions, as well as priority lines for members. There’s also the benefit of not having to use a card to purchase tickets but instead a friendly app that allows you to purchase them on the spot.

Prices:

The package is much simpler with one all-inclusive option of $19.95/month. This gives you 3 movies a week plus 10% off concessions, and much more.

Cinemark Movie Club

Personally, this is not my favorite option, but the Cinemark Movie Club has its perks. The subscription plan cost the amount of a single ticket and gives you one ticket a month, plus that ticket rolls over monthly if you don’t end up using it. The plan also eliminates 20% off all concessions and removes all online fees. All this being said, I have to admit in comparison with AMC’s plan, there’s a lot left to be desired from Cinemark’s offering. If you enjoy heavily discounted concessions though, this plan rocks.

Prices:

Just like AMC’s plan, it’s one all-inclusive price of $8.99/month for 1 usable ticket (this does not include IMAX, 3D, or XD). Plus, 20% off all concessions and no online fees.

Alamo Drafthouse Season Pass

We still know very little about this option because the movie chain is currently beta testing the idea with select consumers. This being said, if they decide to roll out the package in a major way this could be a great option. Alamo Drafthouse may have few locations but the theater chain is one of the best you might ever have the privilege of experiencing. Keep an eye out for this package because it could be something truly special for the cinephile in you.
