The Meg is on the verge of becoming an epic blockbuster. With some very small changes it could have been even more incredible.

If you haven’t seen The Meg yet, do so immediately. If you’re even remotely interested in Jason Statham, shark week, Jaws, Jason Statham fighting a shark, submarines, or Jason Statham captaining a submarine while fighting a shark, you’ll kick yourself for not already having seen it. Given the opening weekend domination that has caused pun-filled quips nationwide, there is every indication The Meg is on pace to be a shocking hit. I dare say it will make mega millions.

Love for The Meg is well deserved. The concept is simple, but well executed. There are, however, ways to improve the film. Given that the film was never going to be completely serious or based on legitimate science – it’s about a prehistoric Megalodon that is certainly 100% extinct – there should have been a sharp turn towards a more campy style.

Two quick caveats before we proceed. Spoilers ahead! Proceed at your own discretion. Second, there is no worry about The Meg being alive. Sleep soundly at night.

Without further ado, here are five missed enhancement opportunities that would have taken The Meg over the top.
