There is zero doubt The Meg should have paid homage to the name Meg. How hard would it have been?

There was ample opportunity to use the name Meg as well as actresses named Meg. You’re telling me Meg Ryan couldn’t use the work? She hasn’t been in anything since 2015!

Furthermore, there was a complete throw away role that could should have been much more. Ruby Rose – or as I like to call her, Angelina Fauxlie – played Jaxx, the underwater expert on whatever she did. It required nothing more than to be pretty, serve as the “edgy but hot”-chick, NCIS Abby wannabe. The Meg should have been completely tongue in cheek. Way more campy. And these are simple opportunities to ratchet everything Meg related up to 11. This was absolutely a role that was made for Megan Fox.

Perhaps the most egregious exclusion is almost inexcusable. Picture this:

Jonas Taylor (Statham) is on top of the shark as it emerges from the water. Majestically soaring ten feet above the ocean waves, The Meg thrashes as Jonas stabs it in the eye. Consequently, the pain causes a screeching noise pierces the air. At the peak of the jump there is a subtle pause, where Jonas reaches back and delivers not only the death blow, but also the line of the movie:

"“Shut up, Meg.”"

Super meta.
